I feel that pain. I’ve bought a few cleaning items, but I’m never sure if it’s really helping. Some of the brushes seem to leave some strands on the records at times.

One thing I did buy, partially out of nostalgia, is an anti-static gun. I used the same type of gun when I worked in radio years ago and I wasn’t totally sure it worked then. But I do know that with new albums, they’re coming out pretty static-y on the first play. The David Lee Roth boxset I got the other day was worst... the static was so strong it felt like the sleeves were welded to the vinyl.

Its funny how the "process" evolves. In my day it was two cycles with a velvet brush, wipe needle with your finger and you're away! Don't get be buying more equipment instead of media lol. I don't have a static gun!

So... I bought my turntable in January and was saying that the clicks and crunches are soothing and nostalgic. BUT last few days I've been ripping some albums. Listening for clicks to edit out. And now I'm click phobic .

I think I need to forget ripping for a while and get back to enjoying old records instead of trying to listen for the clicks!

I wasn't into prog back in 80s and the only yes albums I owned until last ten yrs were 90125 and Big Generator. Same with Genesis I only had ST album and later.

It slowly dawned on me that half the bands I liked were actually prog or had prog leanings so I started completing my missing albums for them.

I always liked the more complex "interesting" songs. But my classification had for me simply been good or not.

Been under the weather after a planned surgery, didn't do anything except move from bed to recliner for acouple days, then slowly started playing some tunes.
I haven't even opened the last batch of Quadio's, maybe today.

I'll be the first to admit of my narrow listening choices. As this is my favorite section to expand the gap between my ears, thanks to the members and especially @Clement and @svengaleekie, showing albums I can sample on music. So Thank Guys and Thank You to all the participants posting here........

Until Steven Wilson's surround mix comes out, i have my OG slab through the Surround Master. The week this LP came out, i was working summer orientation at my high school to get some pocket money (it was the summer before my senior year, near the end of August). As i was walking home, a buddy called to me across the street. I ran over and he showed me two sugar cubes that had just arrived from California--LSD! He asked if i wanted one! HELL YEAH, i said! The next 8 or so hours were some of the most surreal eternal instants of my entire life. Long story short: we ended up at another guy's house who had a trampoline. After bouncing into the stratosphere, we went up to the guy's bedroom. By this time, there were five of us. The kid had bought this album earlier in the day. It was brand new, and none of us had seen or heard it yet. He cranked it and we were passing the album around. As Daltry sang "Here comes the end of the world," the cover got to me. I looked at it and in the silence between tracks 2 and 3, i pointed to Moon on the chair stenciled "NOT TO BE TAKEN AWAY" and said, "Holy shit! Keith Moon is gonna die!" Within three weeks, Moon was dead, and the four other guys in the room with me that day gave me the strangest looks whenever we passed in the hallways at school!

I’ve had to fight the urge to pay too much attention to what can be inferior about vinyl at the expense of what my ultimate goal with vinyl is... slowing down and relaxing to music in a non-distracting environment the way I used to before there were screens and devices in every room.

As a kid I was aware of clicks and crackles in vinyl, but I don’t remember being as annoyed about it as I am today. I guess I got spoiled on CDs.

While I’ll make some attempt to de-static or clean off an album, at a certain point I need to let go of my need for vinyl to be perfect.

Dang! You have been posting a lot of things I need to add to my listening list.

I’m both happy to inspire, and sorry to add to what I’m sure is already a long list like most of us have.
