Hi. Sonik Wiz

It was supposed to be a better quality pressing the shop imported it and at the time I was a big fan of Pink Floyd and still am...

Yeah for a vinyl LP that's make sense. While the USA was pressing crap records for so long the Japanese were still obsessed with doing it best possible.

A PF fan here as well. However I have one lapse of fandom that I really regret. My wife and I honeymooned in the UK and being so busy I had lost touch with what Pink Floyd was doing. One night in Leicester Square we happened along a huge display maybe 2 stories tall of a simulated brick wall. In large pink neon letters were the words "The Wall." I hadn't a clue what was about but later learned we were there in the same week the movie premiered. Knowing little about it I blew it off esp when I learned the ticket cost was a whopping $5! I probably spent it on a drink of Glenfiddich later on. What a fool.

Here's one that I played a couple of tracks (Stacy's Mom and Valley Winter Song) off of last night...

Music/vocals coming from all around...sounds like a modern immersive-style 5.1 mix.

Since @Sonik Wiz related a story, I'll tell one too: The band is named after Fountains Of Wayne, a seasonal on US 46 West in Wayne NJ. More importantly, the store was approximately near the exit to make a U-turn onto US 46 East where Lafayette Radio was located in Totowa. Why is that important? Because I bought my first quadraphonic decoder there...a Lafayette SQ-W full-logic wave-matching vari-blend decoder. Not a bad start. The Sony full-logic model was too expensive, so I waited for the Lafayette which was only $100 at the time. Prior to that I made due with Dynaquad.

do it! do it! do it!! :SB
come on Pupster baby! get CD-4 crazy with me!! you won't want to stop at SQ and QS.. you've been bitten by the old Quad bug!! chomp chomp!! 🧛‍♂️
I just got this thing hooked up this morning; and what I love about it so far is the sound is much cleaner and more detailed than my old cheap Kenwood AVR I was using. Also, I now have individual channel Tone and volume controls:love:

If you don't have this CD Freddie, you need it; sorta like funky Herbie, Tomita and Cobham and uber discrete (of course thru the SMv2:love:)
Still gotta settle on a TT, but I have the cart. already to try, a AT-VM740ML.
:QQlove

sounds right up my street!
have you tried decoding that CD through the Sansui for fits and giggles?
hmm.. i wouldn't bother with the 740ML, if i wasn't a total tightwad and only justified scraping the pennies to get a new stylus for my 440 i'd have forked out for a NOS 150Sa or 150MLX instead.. you'd be totally covered for all eventualities with a cart like that and really those two beauts are hard to beat:rocks

WOW!
I had no idea a Sansui 8001 was in your future! What prompted this?
Now you can have endless dueling Vario-Matrix shoot outs with the SM. Oh and do give some attention to the Synthesizer mode on the Sansui.

Well actually I am a tight wad also Freddie, I got the 740 from someone here on the forum for about half retail. But a carts. just a cart right, why settle for just ONE!!!

And no I haven't checked out all the Sansui goodies yet, let's pray they actually still work.

I got the Sansui bug from rawmacias, and I needed a better amp anyway (4.0 - Chucky-No Center!!!) so I ain't getting any younger - what the fuck, if ya can swing it - time's a runnin' faster than we are my brothers.
I'm slowly building a QUAD system, up up and away.🥳
