Well, I thought I would try a CD I have not played for years:
The Kinks: Arthur or the decline and fall of the British Empire
WOW!! The closest thing to a discrete Kinks album we will ever get.

Lots of drums in the right rear speaker (but not always) for those who like it (I do).

It's as if this album was made for 5.1!

Greetings All,
1) IRIS CD. This was a Cirque Du Soleil extravaganza. I had the great pleasure of seeing it at the Dolby Theater ( previously the Kodak) in Hollywood. The music is by Danny Elfman and was presented as a surround sound spectacular performed by live musicians along with a pre-recorded score. INVOLVE reproduces the acoustic event to an astonishing degree of accuracy. Cut 10 Movie Studio and cuts 14/15 Film Noir and Rooftops, are recognizable movie take-offs that will knock your socks off if played.....ahem....at a decent volume. This cd will plow some depths...get the sub ready.

2) RUBY BLUE CD. This album by Roisin Murphy from 2005 is a delightful musical funfest. Murphy has a bit of Annie Lennox in her, and a great sense of humor. The recording is gorgeous and is great in surround through the INVOLVE, assaulting the entire audio landscape. Night Of The Dancing Flame and Ramalama [Bang Bang] are standouts.

3) DARK SIDE OF THE MOON SACD dsd two channel. I prefer playing the 2ch through INVOLVE. The discrete surround SACD and the Alan Parsons quad mix are good, but the the standard 2 channel SACD through INVOLVE is so good from the very start...it has great 360 degree panning, and “...here today gone tomorrow..” comes out of a sound clump and moves from right back toward the front finishing a 180 with an electronic scream left back. Everything about the two channel through the INVOLVE has better sonic beginnings and endings .....just my opinion. The whole thing sounds great!

4) BLOOD SWEAT&TEARS SACD dsd two channel. Cuts, 5,6,7 and 8. And When I Die, God Bless The Child, Spinning Wheel, and You’ve Made Me So Very Happy sound simply gorgeous from a fidelity standpoint and natural surround perspective through INVOLVE.

5) JESUS CHRIST SUPER STAR REMASTERED CD. This is the original studio recording from 1969-70 and is absolutely transformed by INVOLVE. It’s a three dimensional presentation that simply does not exist while listening to the two channel format. Every performer becomes more present while you are surrounded by voices that bring you into the story and the music. This is Andrew LLoyd Webber at the beginning!....If you are into show music, be prepared to sit through both discs.....there are some haunting audio moments.
PHANTOM OF THE OPERA 2CDs. through the INVOLVE this becomes a sonic re-creation of the 1985 original cast production with a lot of stage movement and spacial cues that are at times amazing. This is for dedicated not casual listening.

6) Any Beatles Stereo CD or record through INVOLVE

7) NILSSON SCHMILSSON. The CD4 vinyl Cut 3 side two... Jump Into The Fire. A gas of a mix...if you haven’t heard it, you will love it through INVOLVE 4.1.

8) DON ELLIS TEARS OF JOY. This two record SQ recording is very discrete....very spacious jazz, very enjoyable.....Any SQ record you have will sound as it should, and that’s saying a lot.

9) All OF TANGERINE DREAM CD or Record...Through INVOLVE.....before bed or your next astral projection experiment.
Dwight
