This is a WHOLE different album in 5.1. I mean, this is really just stunning music....and an incredible experience listening in 5.1. Finally, Styx in surround...and it sounds like the Styx of old....old meaning Grand Illusion and prior. WOW!!! For me, this is one of their very best. No joke.

So you hooked up the OPPO 203 [congrats], spun this fantastic BD~A in 5.1 [and it blew away the Vinyl] and read the article in which Shaw and Company extolled the virtues of SURROUND ...... so the next logical question, provided all the Multis for STYX previous albums exist.........do you think we can expect MORE Styx in Surround?:QQlove

For Tommy Shaw fans, a new release on BD~V from Eagle Rock Entertainment: https://www.amazon.com/Tommy-Shaw-a...65953&creativeASIN=B07CLRMK11&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I'm trying to rip this and I got into a bit of trouble...I hope this isn't one of those that has "ripping issues"
I ripped first 11 songs...then it blew up. UGH. I'm working on it....that was the DTS HD Master....now I'm starting over and trying to rip it with the Dolby True HD stream...fingers crossed...

Are you using DVDAE or something else? I tried to rip Quadrophenia Bluray the other day with DVDAE and it was a no go too... seems like people who use MakeMKV have the most luck, but I always forget how to do it, lol!

DVDAE - I have the latest and greatest...which has historically tackled bluray super easily...

OK. DVDAE is NOT going to work. Not sure why....each time I try to rip...it gives me a totally different result. Songs don't finish......it's a big mess.

sorry to derail this thread......with the new forum...I can't find any of my old threads...
Another question - I had to download MakeMKV as I lost the program with my laptop crash. Do I now need Audiomuxer to deal with the MKV file? If yes, anyone have a safe link for Audiomuxer? Geez....

I’m pretty sure you do need audiomuxer... I’m at work now, though, so no link...

Yes, you first use MakeMKV, then extract the audio from the .MKV file with Audiomuxer. It's a pretty painless process.

Gene, I don't like getting my hopes up to much as we know some mix's just aren't top notch but kept thinking the past few months please don't screw this one up as I really liked the stereo version and could totally imagine what a good 5.1 mix could sound like. You have got me EXCITED once I get home. Today of all days is my late working day and have dinner plans with wife so not sure if I will be able to get at this one tonight and just checked amazon, says package is at my home so lift off happening soon in Burnaby as well........

Garry's (HomerJAU) Music Media Helper is great after using MKV, don't have to do anything just push a button!

Gene, rather than get your mind in a 'tizzy,' you have a NEW Oppo 203 which I'm sure is better [even incrementally] than your 103 so JUST ENJOY it. You have a ton of discs, BD~Vs included, the unit does require a break~in period so rather than neurose about ripping them [at this moment] sit back and manually insert the discs and behold the aural/visual beauty of the unit. Just a suggestion 3.0!

And...then there is the problem of knowing "which" one of all these to choose. When I expand the obvious ones...they all have the exact same audio choices...so who knows? :)

Of course, you are right.....it's just a thrill to rip these things.....get the album art in order and fire up Foobar.......but...I'm just odd that way. :)
