That would be pretty awesome. The Walrus of Love coming at you from all directions. It might even exist. I read somewhere, years back, that 20th Century was going to get into the Quad game. I can't recall which Barry White album they were going to do - "with the Love Unlimited Orchestra" comes to mind, but I could be wrong.

The Unlimited Orchestra is exactly the one I would hope for....I used to have that LP way, way back in the day.....Great stuff.

Used to have this one......no clue where it is now....maybe left it behind at my folks house....up in the attic!

Interestingly enough, on the back of the Best of Bread SACD, it does state: Manufactured by Rhino Entertainment Company, a Warner Music Group Company. I thought that to be a little unusual.

Not really. The usual deal with reissues is that the reissue label pays an advance and buys the finished SACDs (or CDs) from the record company that owns the masters. In the case of Best of Bread, that would be Warner Music Group.

Uriah Heep anyone?
albeit my fave "Salisbury" album, i will settle for "Return To Fantasy" since it has quad mix somewhere in vault.

"Sabotage" by Black Sabbath?

Once again I would vote for Joni Mitchell - Court And Spark & Hissing Of Summer Lawns. Two popular titles and really nice quad mixes.

Good picks!

I would also add: JACKSON BROWNE-LATE FOR THE SKY
This disc I was unsure of when I originally purchased the cd-4 back in the early 70's...........but got so much better with each listen.
It's one of my top faves now.

sweet baby james by james taylor
gords gold, summertime dream and sundown by Gordon lightfoot

If they rereleased the DVDA of Pat Metheny's "Imaginary Day" as an SACD, that could be something that I would go for.

Same goes for Olu Dara's "Neighborhoods", another DVDA from the WB/Rhino era.

Doesn't top my requests for albums like "Kamakiriad", "Two Against Nature", or "Everything Must Go" however. :)

I finally broke down and spent more than I should have for the Chicago II DVD Audio, so that means a AF release is likely:rolleyes:

I would love for the 5.1 mix of "Chicago II" to be released on SACD, but I just don't see it happening right now with Mobile Fidelity's SACD reissues of Chicago's albums. CTA and VI are already out, with more on the way supposedly.

Oh yes! Plus the oodles of other unreleased Warners 5.1's (The Cars, several Joni Mitchell albums, Chicago X, Deep Purple's Burn, David Sanborn, Christopher Cross) and EMI's unreleased 5.1's including Alphonse Mouzon's Mind Transplant.. the list of unreleased 5.1 mixes of superb albums is huge!

The EMI's are now under the control of UMG.

thanks jon and gos for the rely I just bought chicago greatest the original quad mix the sq matrix on vinyl and since I am not using the right cartridge Audio Techinca AT 400MLA

which the frequency response is not how I remembered it when I had that AT 12S with the shibata time the new

ST 440Mla has that new micro line and suppose to track Quad. oh well

and does any one know on the Yamaha athe 577 to listen to SACD like the new B S.& T self tiled do I set the setting for Dolby Pro logic IIX or does it set it automatically?

huggy

That record was SQ, and didn't need a special cartridge or stylus to play. You can play it perfectly well, in quad with an SQ decoder, with any stereo cartridge. A Pro Logic II decoder will give some surround results, but with ambiguous placement of rear sounds. While there's a bone of contention on the thread, I find Pro Logic II does a great job with QS records, with accurate placements of rear sounds. CD-4 requires a special cartridge and Shibata stylus. The matrix systems, SQ and QS, don't need that.

Also.. I haven't seen anyone on this entire thread even mention some SACD releases of those albums by the Moody Blues that UMe didn't already release. I realize Universal is probably more inclined to release them on BD-A, but they really haven't fulfilled the potential of these discs by offering more in surround. I think we need to put some pressure on them as well to give us more surround.

Best Of Volume II and Road Food have nice wide, aggressive mixes. I would love to see those come down the pipe. #10 is almost one of these mixes, except they decided to put a different guitar in FL and BL, and then Burton's keyboard in FR and BR. Makes for a lopsided mix. But the rest is your typical lead vocals/bass/drums in the front, backing vocals in the rear. So close....

Since on the topic of RCA Quad, any of the Elvis titles would be great, but they'd probably have to pay through the teeth for licensing. The Jerry Reed titles all have great mixes. Waylon Jennings Lonesome/Onry/Mean is very good. Maybe even the John Denver? Would be interesting to see if they can dig up the unreleased John Denver Quad. I suspect it was "Rocky Mountain High", but it was only mentioned as an "upcoming" John Denver title in a 1975 Billboard magazine. (The same ad mentioned a David Bowie Q8 that also never came around).

Back to the topic of the Guess Who though, I would love to hear the entire Live at the Paramount album in Quad. One song was remixed for Best of #2, chances are high that they mixed the whole album. Or better yet, "So Long, Bannatyne". I can only imagine "Pain Train" in Quad with all those vocals tracks. They were on 16-track equipment by then and surely would have used it to their advantage. *sigh*

I always thought it was odd that #10 came out on a quad reel. Couldn't have sold very well. Of course I had one. Played it rarely.

Hey Q-eight

Which Bowie release was mentioned by RCA?

Also of note 2 tracks on vol 2 are from Bannatyne so it may exist in whole or in part as a Quad mix gathering dust in RCA's vault.
