One thing about using a product not intended for records: Tomorrow's "new improved formula" might be death for records.
Not sure if $189 is breaking the bank, but I have heard nothing but good things about the Gem Dandy Cleaner here: Gem Dandy Hydraulic LP Cleaning Apparatus MKII
In fact the guy who invented this cleaner is a friend of a friend.
Saying that, I splurged for the VPI.
I love it! It was money well spent, considering the amount of used vinyl I buy. Prior to buying I would clean my albums manually. It was something I would dread doing. And, how do you like the VPI? New, $1000 give or take.
I see used ones on ebay for around $650, but man. No warranty, etc.I love it! It was money well spent, considering the amount of used vinyl I buy. Prior to buying I would clean my albums manually. It was something I would dread doing.
I ended up financing mine, which made it easier on my financially. But, it took me years to pull the trigger on the purchase.I see used ones on ebay for around $650, but man. No warranty, etc.

I hear you on that. I've been looking at them for years....also dragging my feet. Seems a bit extreme, but I know I'd get good use out of it.I ended up financing mine, which made it easier on my financially. But, it took me years to pull the trigger on the purchase.
