I got my Blu-ray+DVD delivered today. My hope was that this one contains also the Atmos Mix as with the much more expensive 4K Blu-ray special edition.
Unfortunately it's only the 5.1 Mix and no Atmos!!
Am I willing to buy the 4K edition then?? No way!!!!
I also have the Blu-ray Pure Audio Atmos version, that's enough!!

hi; you mean the blu-ray / dvd combo on sale on amazon? the one with A24 logo? but is at least 4K or just 1080 by the way?
and i assume that the rhino Atmos is also different from the a24 mix;
in your opinion the remastered movie is worth the upgrade from older dvd editions? thanks

I got the A24 Blu-ray (non-4k) deluxe collector's edition, which does have a 2023 Atmos mix and the 1984 original stereo mix for $53, a very slight discount from the $58 4k version. No DVD, but I already have an older one with a couple of 5.1 mixes. I'm good.

It's this one: https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/movie/detail/-/art/the-talking-heads-stop-making-sense/hnum/11790588

If it's worth it? Well for a Fan it is and the sonics are very good. I only have an older Blu-ray version of the film so don't know the DVD but assume they are identical. In this case personally I would prefer the new mix and content. But this is as stated personal preference!

hi, ok so by now anyone compared the 2 Atmos mixes (A24 and Rhino)? similar or very different? thanks
Well you mean the Dolby Atmos Film Blu-ray vs. the Dolby Atmos Album Pure Audio Blu-ray??
Of course there should be a difference since films/concert DVD/Blu-ray's are mixed and mastered differently focusing more on the visiuals for those ones and I feel it very difficult to compare then.

well yes of course; and one is a movie while the other is a soundtrack, but being both of them remixed in spacial audio for the first time -basically at same time- i expected in general more let's say curiosity to try to compare them...:)

One thing I am aware of from the 4K Blu-ray film disc is that the volume of individual musicians is increased somewhat when they are on camera. I observed this to be true most of the time, but they did miss a few opportunities. I would imagine the Atmos audio only release would not be subject to that. I have it here but pressed for time. I haven’t got to hearing it yet.

yes i voted already in the poll for the Rhino...i find it very well done...but i wish i had also a copy of the A24 just to compare the Atmos...i'm tempted by the 4k edition but a bit expensive shipped to Italy!

Hi everyone - I'm confused and am hoping someone can set me straight. I recently bought the Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense (40th Anniversary Special Edition) film version in the Black Friday sales. So not the white cover version shown on the first page of this thread. It's two Bluray discs but has no track list anywhere on the cover or indeed via the disc authoring (you can't do a 'track select' - there's none).

I'm sure it's kosher - I bought it in JB Hifi, a reputable store in Oz. But the lack of info, not even a track list I can bring up on screen is strange. I thought it had the bonus tracks (I zimbra etc) added in, but they're only in stereo and non-restored video on the second disc.

I guess the two main things I'd like to know are, does anyone know, is this meant to have a booklet and I just missed out? And is it the same Atmos mix as that white cover soundtrack-only version? This one says 2023 mix on the disc menu. It's not brilliant, but an OK mix.

I've googled around and really can't get much info other than the standard blurb. It's not even on Discogs, for me to check there. Here it is on the US Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Talking-Heads-Blu-ray-Anniversary-Special/dp/B0DFC7MJJW

It's kinda hard to tell what you bought there. As far as I know, this is the only legit version of the film with an Atmos soundtrack:

Perhaps that is what you bought. I just ordered it from A24 Films and hope to have it soon. I had given up on it ever showing up on Amazon or anywhere else.

While some of the features of the one you've ordered are similar, the artwork is very different and yours (when you get it) has a booklet that sounds good. The Atmos mix seems tobe the same as the one I have - '2023 Dolby Atmos'. Good, but not really wow. Possibly that's the same as the soundtrack version as well, which has no film. I would have liked the restored extra tracks, especially that I Zimbra medley - so if you have that as a part of the show, you've done well. I also would have like the ability to track select!

All in all, though, the one I have is still a zillion times better than the old DVD I had, both in audio and visually. In fact, it's visually spectacular.
