20% Off Shanti's DSD 256 Single "Up On The Roof"
A Top 20 DSD Best Seller
This week our Album of the Week is actually a DSD Single. It's pop singer Shanti's live to DSD 256 recording of the Carole King classic Up On The Roof.
The song was performed and recorded at an event in Japan and for an audience of about 60 people from the recording industry. At the session, singer Shanti and Amphion Loudspeakers CEO Anssi Hyvonen talked about what DSD is, what hi-res is in general, and they recorded songs. "Up On The Roof" was one of them.
Amphion was demonstrating what is like to hear a song that was recorded in DSD 256 being played through really high end speakers." Shanti tells us. Find out much more about the event in this 10-minute interview with DJ Kamasami Kong on "Japan Tonight".
Speaking of Japan, when this DSD Single was first released there, it hit No. 1 on the best-seller charts!
I am so excited to bring you this song by Carole King in the DSD format. It is raw, live and non-mastered. The spirit of the song is kept alive while simultaneously exploring sound quality which is the vision that Amphion Loudspeakers and I have in common. It always has to be a balance! I hope that this is just the beginning of many songs to reach your heart! Bless!
-- Shanti

They have been sitting on those for a LONG time....the only one that interests me is the Dr. John title....I'm trying to stop buying these "bargains" if I don't like the content...no matter how cheap they are....
Then obviously this sale isn't for you but there are some exceptional titles! And it's a whole lot better than a lot of the 'crap' being released today.
I know what you are saying...and in strictly audio terms I agree...but if you don't like the content it's meaningless....I'm trying to reduce my physical disc inventory...

Pentatone says "Tchaikovsky has dedicated some of his finest music to the violin, but this new album expands the instrument’s repertoire even further. Inspired by greats such as Sarasate, Heifetz, Kreisler and Joachim, violinist Guy Braunstein reanimates a tradition of violin and orchestra rhapsodies with new arrangements of famous excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Swan Lake. Together with the extraordinary Violin Concerto, Valse Scherzo and Sérénade mélancolique, they constitute a collection of glittering Tchaikovsky Treasures."
Guy Braunstein tells us about the album “Why compose violin and orchestra rhapsodies after Tchaikovsky’s opera and ballet music? It all started because of jealousy... A few years ago, I was conducting Eugene Onegin. While rehearsing the Letter Scene, I found myself envying Tatjana so much. I just couldn’t help it. I ran to my hotel afterwards, took out the violin and started playing Tatjana’s part. Then again. The next day I modified it and started making it suitable for virtuoso violin.
I remember that the great Leopold Auer did that with Tchaikovsky’s music. After all, he was the dedicatee of all Tchaikovsky wrote for the violin. So I went to work on the Letter Scene, the Lensky Aria (which Auer himself transcribed for violin and piano) and finally the “pas de deux” scene from Swan Lake. The result is three pieces of Tchaikovsky’s music that are totally new in the violin literature. In the golden era of the violin, Sarasate did such things. So did Heifetz, Kreisler, Joachim; all the greats. They felt the urge to enlarge the repertoire by composing, transcribing and arranging. In the last decades, performers rarely do that anymore. I try to follow their great tradition.”
