Hello Quadramaniacs! :)

New here, but I am a LONG time vintage audio collector. I run my own YouTube channel, same as my forum name. I came here seeking someone well versed in Quadraphonic knowledge, lore, history, etc.
We have several knowlegeable members. I’ve been a quad listener since the 1970s. I’ve seen several links to old technical articles posted here, so it’s worth asking or searching.

Quadraphonic sound appeared in ~1970 [RCA Q8 tapes], quad faded away in ~1977 and came back in ~1983 [then called surround sound].

IMHO, both Audio and High Fidelity mags were pro-quad, Stereo Review mag was lukewarm on quad, 2 issues of High Fidelity mag (kinda about the change from using the name quadraphonic to surround sound):

Greetings. I've just begun indulging in albums mixed in Dolby Atmos.

I've collected and watched a lot of movies in Dolby Atmos and overall it's been an underwhelming experience. Even the most revered releases features very little action in the height speakers. I've realized, that I simply want sound all around me all the time, and I find this much easier to achieve through albums.

Good day, everyone! I've some minor experience with codecs and numerous quadraphonic setups. I love 3-D movies and surround sound. I am a LaserDisc collector.

(That felt like introducing myself in elementary school. :D)

Thanks!
We have many common interests! I put up with lousy blacks on my TV because the 3D is so good!

Finally taking steps to get Atmos capability, although I’m pretty sure my LaserDiscs won’t tickle those drivers. I have a lot of concerts, ballets and operas on Laser that I sure don’t see available on the smaller discs.
