yah, a sony!

Yes, tremble in fear :D

I read a consumer review this person wrote they had the denon, and it had no hdmi so they bought a big sony and after 2 weeks put the denon back in service. So there's sony 4 u.

I will admit most modern Sony's are junky. But up through the early 00's They made some very fine products.

Its like this on my Denon review. It irks me that the remote of this unit lights up with the slightest vibration. The reciever I do like it, however I have untill april 15 to get a refund . I think I am going with a Anthem pva8 Amp and a integra 80.3 pre amp . I mostly listen to music. Last night I hooked up the Sansui QRX999 with Sansui 838 turntable with Grado gold cartridge Hooked up the cornscalas as fronts and Sansui Sp 5000 for back on surround setting running through a Sansui se9 eq Dropped the tone arm on Loggins and Messina On stage album . Angry Eyes. Adjusted the remote joy stick for imaging and magic visited my house. A total differant sound than the Denon (The Denon sounds very good) How ever I prefer what is that Sansui sound. When Jim Showker restored this unit he said he went all premium components and held this restore to a higher standard. I called Jim last night to say how well it sounds. The 4520 ci is a fine AVR. Any thoughts on the Anthem Amp and integra pre amp Thanks for all the help. To all the Denon owners in my opinion the 4520ci is a sure winner it is I who have the dreaded sickness called Gadgetitus

The Intrgra 80.3 is getting up into high end as is that amp. Older stuff like your Sansui have a sound that is all it's own. The reason people are re-discovering vintage stuff. I see on ebay they are getting top dollar for it. I would venture to say some are going for more than it was new.
It's a frikken disease! That remote has to be defective.

Yes I agree that the remote is defective. . Mario at Audioworkshop here in Bradenton has the Integra 80.3 that a customer balked on . He will sell the Integra and Anthem for his cost. He is my Amature radio mentor and friend . When I told him that I bought the Denon he said that he could of sold me the same Denon for 100.00 dollars less than what I paid. He also schooled me on Integra made in Maylasha and the Anthem pva8. He knows that I prefer listning to music than movies . So I will be turning in the Denon and do the switch.

Thats great picking the Denon for 80.00 When a grown man can get excited as you are on your purchase it fuels others for such a find . Congratulations
Back to the thread: You guys got me all sweaty talking about Denon, so I went and bought one. A little older, no HDMI or audessy, but 105 x 7. It's going to be perfect with my Oppo 93 ne. My old Integra went to another home, and I replaced it with a smaller Integra, nice but I missed the power. model 3801. $80.00.
real clean unit. That is what impressed me the most, the condition it's in. Somebody cared for this guy to the max! wanna buy an Integra ? 85 watts x 6

I shelled out $1200.00 14 yrs ago for my 1st Integra, the one before that was Onkyo but was not capable of DD or DTS, paid $800.00 for that one. I got my money out of the 1st Integra for sure, so when I got an equal or better of course I'm excited. I get sick when I spend anything over say $900.00. The Denons are very hard to get on ebay. I kept getting overbid by as much as a dollar. :howl ( My pc is one a tenant left and I got it running) real slow. This took months of attempts. I finally just asked the seller for mercy!! He said he wanted a good home for it, and it found one!

Well I took the blown Yammy to Mario this morning. He can have it for whatever. So we decided on a Integra DTR80.3 it weighs in at 50.7 pounds vs the Denon 4520ci at 36 pounds. ( I returned the Denon to Best Buy this morning with no problem however it will take 7 business days to get my check since it is over 500.00) I get a call from Mario this afternoon Integra has a new reciever called the DTR-70.4 You can view it on Audioaholics. He sent me the dealer spread sheet on it including the dealer cost vs retail. This unit weighs in at a whopping 63 pounds. With aluminum rack mounts my cost is less than the total cost of the Denon. He ordered it for me 30 min. ago. He has been with Integra for 25 years and he is my Ham radio Mentor also. Well he sure earned fishing trips thats for sure. Now thats a friend.

A couple of weeks ago I decided I'd had enough of the 10-year old Yamahano no HDMI, no phono i/p, and so splashed out on a Pioneer SC-LX86, really like it. Not sure if the neighbours do, the bass on the Yes "Fragile" SACD is much, much better!

Yes, it's 140 x 9. A very nice sounding. well-built piece. Discrete outputs is a great touch. A feature usually found separate power amps. It does everything. It even makes toast. I have a 5 x 75 w Onkyo for my third system. Since we were both a custom a/v integrator and a retailer, we were one of the few dealer that featured both Integra and Onkyo.

a frikkin beast. what is it like 140 watts?

While hooking up the Denon to the internet I noticed the remote is made in CHINA WTF. I do not buy China crap if I am aware that it is.

not really got what it has to do with China? you're not talking about "no name" dollar store stuff but
brand name goods, which originated and managed from HQ in USA, Japan, Germany, GB, etc. you should
blame greedy shareholders, who wanna bigger peice of pie and ready to sacrificed quality of the product
for this, and your government, who allows to outsource national manufacturing but at same time widely
opens national market for such "import", calling this "free market"

Other than marantz I have had 3 Onkyo's and 2 Integra's. The one I have now is small @ 85 and lacks features I have become used to and the Denon has. My son is buying the 85 Integra. Got that for $37.00! Been fortunate as both buys were excellent deals and extremly clean.

I hear you. Thanks to ole tricky Dicky Nixon when he authorized the ok for the import of Japan electronic gear to flood the market. Part of why there is no Zenith today. the CFOs and coorporate went for Bigger Yachts and Summer homes and the industry suffered.
