What's the Latest DISCRETE Quad LP Added to Your Pile? CD-4, UD-4

I just bought Sergio Mendes and Diana Ross (Last Time I Saw Him) in CD-4, along with a John Lennon (Imagine) in SQ from a guy in Sweden. I had my eyes on these (Discogs) but with the pandemic, he wasn't shipping overseas for a while. Glad that changed. Sergio is always pretty good and I read in these forums that Lennon is -eh- for the SQ mix. I'm really hoping the Diana Ross is good (as in quality. You know how used CD-4's can be.)

the Sergio Mendes Quad on Elektra & Diana's Last Time I Saw Him are two of my all-time favourites! they both have great Quad mixes and are musically very nice. i hope your discs demodulate well fingers crossed for a good outcome

I picked up Rick Wakeman's "journey to the center of the earth" on CD-4, but I don't know how I'm going to play it back as I don't have a CD-4 decoder. Bought it before I had done any quad research

Hey, never hurts to add to the collection...

Eventually you'll either collect enough CD-4's, or happen into the hardware to play them back, or not be able to contain your curiosity any longer, and BAM! you'll be playing Quadradiscs too.

I just bought a total refurbished Sansui QRX-9001. When I pair it with my Shure CD-4 cartridge and a true Shure replacement stylus, it's works perfectly. Everything else I've tried has been iffy. But I'm a happy camper. So I have high hopes!

Yup, follow the CD-4 rules and you will invariably be rewarded. I have read many posts with users trying to cut corners, trying to get non CD-4 cartridges to work, for instance, and being frustrated.

yep I think I have everything except a decoder: NOS Empire 4000 DIII cart & stylus, Empire 698 TT

I guess I need to figure out the wiring impedence but it should work, I'd think?

I thought I would share with you this finding It was on Jauce Auction site I bid on it but went way over my budget it sold for 61000 Yen. about $588 us.

In the last view months I have accumulated about 2 full boxes of Quad LP`s there`s to many now to show all what I will do is go through them and pick out a dozen of them and show them to all.

Brad Miller's "American Freedom Train" on Soundbird records.

Boy, if you like trains, when they go by right in front of you at loud volume, it really gets your heart pumping and it makes me automatically smile. It's amazing he/they were able to capture that on a recording.

tbh I'm pouncing on these Japanese CD-4's whenever I see them for a semi decent (and preferably cheap!) price now.. they all sound so good, so far (and not one has come out sandpapery yet.. which I'm finding is a bonus feature of some of the pressings from other territories, especially RCA dynaflex Quads for some reason seem to be pretty meh.. and the Arista ones are a bit shit too.. I dunno I'm still learning about all this stuff but I know that its taken two Compartments and two Jimmy Castors to get something even remotely acceptable and bizarrely the better sounding 2nd copies of each look in worse condition than the sandpapery 1st ones! spooky possums!

Ohio Players! Now that might be an interesting DV release in the future. I think they had 2 Q8 tapes here in the US, Honey and Fire.
