I was under the impression that if you rip the disc to an ISO and play the ISO that it's glitch-free, is that not the case?

It's a shame there are any problems with this disc, because the unaffected tracks are great.

That's how I was able to access all of the music.

Just picked up Crowded House: Crowded House, which I was anxious to get because I really like the hit, "Don't Dream It's Over." So far, I have not listened to the disc all the way through, primarily because the bass coming from the sub-woofer is so obnoxiously overpowering that it really interferes with trying to enjoy the actual music. I mean, I've got other discs that are bass heavy, but this one is ridiculous. I even tried going back to my receiver settings and really lowering the level of the sub-woofer just so I could stand playing the disc, but even after lowering the level a LOT, it is still very overpowering and distracting. I tried to track down any discussions here on the forum to see if others have had issues with this recording, by my search efforts on here typically end in frustration. Doubt this one will ever get much play, which is unfortunate because I think I would enjoy the album.

That is odd for sure Dr, The only track that gives me alot of bass was the beginning of "Hole in the River" the rest are awesome. One of Snood fave discs.

Hope ya get it figured it out

Hmm - not via SACD-R playback of the ISO I have...

I can't speak to what may or may not be out there on the Internet. But creating an ISO from the actual SACD and then copying that to hard disk via the and playing it as a DSD Download on the exaSound e28 works great - in Stereo and Multichannel.

I'm pretty sure the difference is that you extracted the dsd rather than playing the iso. Extracted dsd played fine for me too.

I'm playing the DualDisc right now and it sounds great with the MLP 5.1 track. Are you playing the disc as a DVD-A or DVD-V? Another words, what codec are you using? MLP (which is labeled High Resolution in the setup menu), Dolby or DTS? I do notice playing it via Dolby Digital sounds a bit bloated in comparison to MLP or DTS.

You have to extract the .dff files from the ISO in order to clean up the errors. If you just rip the ISO and play it directly, it will retain all of the authoring errors.

(It doesn't clean every glitch up, but at least it's playable. It would crash my oppo before.)

Just listened to it beginning to end and only the 3rd track has problems after extraction. I remember issues with more tracks (when you could get to them) on the original SACD.

Yesterday the postman delivered XTC "Drums and Wires" and today it was King Crimson "Starless" box...will keep me busy for a little while!

I hadn't realised that this one was still available! So I went looking, where did you get yours? CDJapan has 2 versions from Sony, SIGP-29/4547366008029 SACD, and SICP-10088/4547366033311 Hybrid-SACD, doesn't state whether multi-channel or not though.

If you scroll down to the description it states it is 3.0 which is considered multi channel for this release HERE
