20-bit, you say? I seem to recall a version of Astral Weeks (or Tupelo Honey?) that I bought was 20-bit.
I'll have to see if the Oppo says its HDCD.
So, do they sound any better?

The Joni Mitchell HDCDs do sound better than the old CD I had, so I think they were a better transfer from analogue to HDCD. There were a lot of 20bit remastered CDs released a few years back but they're just standard 16bit CDs. I would love the old Joni Mitchell CD4 Quads released on BDA, DVDA, or SACD.

Jeff Waynes - War Of The Worlds (SACD) 5.1 mix

All I need is a receiver that is DSD compatible

Mahavishnu Orchestra "Birds Of Fire" SACD, really like this one, clearer than the old SQ vinyl, not bad for a 43 year old recording!

The drums on this sound better than most modern recordings. Engineers do not seem to know how to record drums these days.

After an almost 2 month wait this one finally arrived :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: or I could have done this :51banana: :).

Nice catch, Jan! :brew
So... from all those dancing bananas, I'm guessing it rocks.
Let us know what you think when you've had chance to give it a good listening.

Actually the bananas were meant to indicate how happy I was to finally get it after a 2 month wait but it certainly rocks!!
The surround mix is mostly ambient but the sound quality is great. Here's a short review. I bought the SACD FWIW which seems to be rare, they sent me the cd/dvd version twice although I ordered the SACD so make sure when you buy this that you don't end up with the cd/dvd version.

Thanks, Jan!
Third time lucky! Your persistence paid off. Glad to hear this SACD was worth the extra effort.
I'm still on the hunt for the Nightwish DVD-A. Hopefully I'll come across one of these at a decent price. :lookaround

Do you mean Once or Dark Passion Play? Anyways, I'll keep my eyes open and pm you if I find one for a decent price :smokin.

PM sent :)

Well, I figured out how best to spend that $25 Best Buy Reward Certificate I have.

I have purchased "Antiquasauria" (the Ian Cooke DVDA) along with a non-music item, which would be a preorder of the new restored edition of "Spartacus" on Blu-Ray.
Both should be arriving around the beginning of October, and I'm looking forward to both with great anticipation! :)

Turn the rears up by 2db. There's plenty of discrete stuff, but pretty quite. The After Forever SACD is decent too, but again has rears pretty quiet.
