Loggins & Messina (2nd album) 4.0 SACD

It's goin on the list!

You should hopefully love it too!
I know I have said it on here before, but Audio Fidelity (with Elliot Scheiner) need to pull this one out of obscurity for a Multichannel SACD release. Maybe this one won't be tied up in the licensing nightmares that other discs are currently stuck in...

If anybody has knowledge of the classical ones, please sound-forth!
The EJ one is a double for me. Found it for $6, so, what the heck...

You got some nice Classical music there. I am listening to the Stenhammar String Quartets as I write. It's a wonderful disc of this composer's music. The ensemble named after the composer gives an excellent performance. BIS's 5.0 recording has ambient, natural soundstage that works very well IMHO. Here's an in depth review...http://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2013/Dec13/Stenhammar_quartets_v2_BISSACD2009.htm

Grundman's music is a new and compelling work. The Mch soundstage could be a bit more spacious but that's a minor complaint. I like it. Here's some more background info...http://www.hraudio.net/showmusic.php?title=9700
Here's a video clip of a concert performance...https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0eKO4yvo4cE

And...Sudbin's performance of the Mozart and Beerhoven concertos using a modern grand piano is first-class. Nice, ambient surround mix.

Thanks for the info. I hope to be able to listen soon. I basically plundered all hi-res and surround I could from local shops on a mini vacation. Between that and everything new I have coming in the mail, I'll be playing catch-up for quite a while!

The Jeff Beck Group - Jeff Beck Group (SACD)
"the orange album"

This 4.0 from Audio Fidelity sounds amazing, too. The music is so 70s. I'm loving it. It might not have the hits that Loggins and Messina has, but Jeff Beck's guitar work is excellent. The discrete mix does a terrific job of showing his playing to great effect!

Aaahh *jealous* what did you have to pay?

All I did is go on amazon(US)and it was there for $25 + shipping($3.99)for a new sealed copy...mine was the last one at that price HERE...now if you notice the 2 pictures on amazon check out the back cover where the barcode is located....that ensured me I "should" get the DVD-A version..the barcode begins with a 6(far left in the picture)and then 9286...I verified it with the catalog number for the DVD-A versions listed on Discogs HERE

If you are patient you can find used one's on Ebay in the $20 range...now you live in Europe so it might be more expensive for you...ask fredblue for advice...he's knows the European market...it is an excellent disc...I listened to it recently..

Aye thanks for the help. It is indeed a great disc, even the original stereo version has great sonics. I only recently had the chance to hear the DVDa and was blown away. I so need this. :)

Sorry I can't be of any help on this one at this time, Ninecats.

Prices have seemingly gone thru the roof since I got mine (from a UK Amazon marketplace seller in 2012).

The time is right for AF and ES to give it the Surround SACD reissue treatment, methinks..!! :p

bought Mozart's "Requiem" by von Karajan on SACD.
damn, turned out i'm already do have it on DVDA just forgot about it.

Thanks, Jan!
Third time lucky! Your persistence paid off. Glad to hear this SACD was worth the extra effort.
I'm still on the hunt for the Nightwish DVD-A. Hopefully I'll come across one of these at a decent price. :lookaround

i have both. albeit i'm pretty much likes Tarja's singing, first DVDA has terrible mix.
her voice mostly been lost in those surround approach.
second DVDA with some new chick on vox and i don't like as much and thus voice lil'bit more prominent than on previous, still not good.
so it worth of hunt if you really badly need those in your collection but for listening enjoyment... you'll be disappointed.

I don't have "Distant Satellites", but I do have and enjoy "We're Here Because We're Here"
You'll have to let me know how the other one is. :)

I prefer DS (comparing YouTube.0 to YouTube.0).

I'll be sure to give a full report once I've heard the DVD-As!

Technically, DS isn't a DVD-A (even though there is a Blu-Ray available for it), which is why I didn't buy it, but since WHBWH is a DVD-A with a Steven Wilson 5.1 mix, that's why I bought it. I haven't played it that much, but when I have, it's always been an enjoyable listening experience for me. :)
