Haven't done this in a while! A redbook CD that's been on my wantlist for a while (Dig It! + With The Keating Sound, a Vocalion two-fer by one of my all-time favorite horn players, Shake Keane) suddenly popped up at a reasonable price, but it wasn't worth paying transatlantic postage for just one item, so...
  • San Francisco Symphony/Michael Tilson Thomas, American Mavericks (works by Henry Cowell, Lou Harrison, and Edgard Varèse). SFS Media, 2012.
  • Bernard Herrmann, Moby Dick / Sinfonietta. Danish National Symphony Orchestra & Choir/Michael Schønwandt. Chandos, 2011.

Alice Cooper: Billion Dollar Babies

interesting note: the quad mix just isn't a mix from the stereo recording but, at least some tracks, are actually different recordings. Don't know if there was just "added" instruments/vocals onto original stereo recording or not but have to admit I was surprised.

Multichannel session tapes will often have tracks with musical / vocal parts that remain unused. Unused until another mix is created.

Two SACD's from some of the most renowned labels for surround music: Telarc and Tacet. It's actually my very first Tacet purchase so I'm very curious to see if it lives up to the expectations.

Johann Sebastian Bach - Six Brandenburg Concertos, BWV 1046-1051, by the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester
Al Di Meola - Consequence of Chaos

Well I may have gone a little overboard with my latest Dutton order but it’s hard to get just a couple when the prices are so reasonable! And most of these were part of a recent sale so I felt that now was the time to get them!

The Weather Report is stereo only but I can only assume that Michael’s mastering makes it the best version to get! A worthy candidate for the Surround Master.

Some of my absolute favourites in there, I hope you'll post in the polls about them after you've listened to them and remind other people here who might not have them yet how good they are.

The Poco disc is unreal. That one was a real surprise for me and the Isley Brothers is fantastic!
