For freaks only;
It was driving me crazy that two of the three tracks had no times for the songs, Wikipedia came through. This is for an LP, but you get the idea. I am sure that of the 357 versions there are time differences between media.
The 2025 version:
Chapter 1 Close To The Edge 18:44
Chapter 2 And You And I 10:09
Chapter 3 Siberian Khatru 9:12
Total: 38:06

Below source from Wikipedia

1."Close to the Edge"
I. "The Solid Time of Change" (6:04)
II. "Total Mass Retain" (2:23)
III. "I Get Up, I Get Down" (5:45)
IV. "Seasons of Man" (4:31)
Jon Anderson, Steve HoweAnderson, Howe18:43
Total length:18:43
Side two

But Atmos is the logical outcome of this sonic progression. Sound from all around. And once that became the standard there were some records that just screamed for that treatment and Close to the Edge is by far my top selection. Xanadu from Rush was a worthy predecessor and it was wonderful, but CTTE has so much to offer and now it has been delivered.

'Xanadu' -- and most Rush, really -- is so much less instrumentally-, harmonically-, and mix-dense than classic Yes, that I don't see how they even compare.

My only questions for this release are, does the surround mix cohere, and does it hit the crucial 'marks' I expect to hear? Because Wilson's 5.1 did not.

And that's just for the title track. The other two tracks were so unimpressively remixed they barely registered.

My copy of Wilson's do-over arrives this week.

I do not think you will be disappointed. The music truly immered me for maybe the 1st time. I've seen some people complain about And You And I being too reverb-y but I like the sound and by the time he got to Siberian Khatru, Steven Wilson was just having fun with the mix.

The reviews are almost unanimously positive, so I'll be keeping close tabs on getting a copy in the coming months at a discount. No FOMO has me buying something I've owned many copies, including a superb 5.1, until the price drops. Fragile (atmos) was like $40 all in by time I finally bought it.

DeepDiscount issued a 15% off coupon today--on 2 in-stock items--but of course CTTE shows as back-ordered.

(I've noticed in the past that these big box sets are often conveniently "back-ordered" whenever they're running a promotion, only to mysteriously appear back in stock the very day after the coupon expires.)
Fairly certain I have noticed the same thing on importcds and other etailers.
