I've recently been updating Music Media Helper's media file reporting and am now adding a new Report Tool that can create PDFs or Print your music collection with cover images:

MusicMediaReportNew.jpg

I will also add similar reports for Music Video/Concerts, Movies and TV Series.

The reports are created by recursively scanning any number of hard drives (including NAS servers etc). For Music (audio) MMH reads file tags and/or folder/file names to gather data into a new database added in MMH 8.0.10. The upcoming reporting tool (above) reads that database.

I am looking for users to test this on their own music files/folders and provide feedback on formatting the reports etc. My plan is to include a track list. Currently the cover images need to be named 'folder.jpg' or 'cover.jpg'

Please post here and I'll PM the MMH installer (Windows Only).

Not a problem. It separates 'albums' by folders so you'll see 1 album per folder.

It will pick up the codec by reading that from the files, for speed there is an option to just read codec from the first media file (first in file name sort order, so that should be the track 1 of the album).

It also reads track info from a CUE file. If a folder has 1 CUE and 1 media file it understands what to do. If it’s 1 cue and multiple media files it ignores the cue currently.

For the final report (print or export to PDF) you can filter the albums by any field in the grid, including partial matches (example 'contains 'MLP stereo' would create a report of only your stere albums using MLP).

If you've already separated your collection into 'stereo', 'multi-channel', 'quad' or 'Atmos' root Source folders you can simply filter by that 'Source' = 'Stereo' etc.

I may need to allow your MLP files to be seen by the app, (add the file extension to the list of extensions that it looks for).

If you don't do full tagging I may have to grab some data from your folder/files names. Should be straight forward, Hence me asking for Testers,

It does find ISO files but it only gets minimal info (gets the artist and album etc from the folder and/or file names. No codec info at this stage.

I am interested, most of my tags are in J-River / Roon, because normally would not want touch my files. Most of the multi-channel I play from ISO in JRiver, but it would be nice on the MC conversions. But I love checking out the info on the albums. For future it would be nice if information/artwork can be shared with forum members.

I'll give it a shot Garry.
I'm wondering in my own situation.
There are some files, not many, that have Japanese writing so imbedded that even with a manual tag on the file it still shows up in Japanese.

That would be nice to correct. Any of you have that occasional problem?
