Aah...Finally...Someone with a little class. Leevitalone1, your mother had class and seems to have passed along to you.

Yeah but Bush, Did U see that Snood saw KC & The Sunshine Band?? Talk about class!!!

Did not mention that I saw them twice at Disney World did I?

Simply Red - small promo tour for their first Album in a small Club in Hamburg back in 1985.

Since then got a real fan ...such a shame that they never had a surround release but their DVD's and Blu-Rays are enjoyable in every mood.

Very Nice...........Used to be a huge Simply Red fan back then.........haven't had them for a spin in about a half a year though hmmmmm

I started attending concerts in mid 1970. The first one was Pink Floyd playing for free at Hyde Park, London, UK; the next one was Colosseum at a racecourse somewhere in the English countryside and in August 3 days of "Music, Love and Peace" at the Isle of Wight festival. I only remember three days of music and mud, seems I missed the love and peace:eek: The playlist was quite attractive: Free, Jethro Tull. Ten Years After, Emerson, Lake & Palmer (superb performance), Moody Blues, Who, Miles Davis (!), Family, Doors and -last, not least - Jimi Hendrix. Two weeks later he was dead:(
Those were the days ......

You won't see much in the Town Hall at the mo....

http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/wellington/8791529/Town-Hall-to-be-strengthened

I saw Crowded House there in about 1987.....

Good to see the Town Hall still there and getting an upgrade! I haven't been there since that concert.

I used to go there quite a bit when I was a kid in the late sixties as my uncle ran the local pro wrestling nights (he was a pro wrestler too). My dad was an occasional roadie, assembling the ring and even stood in one night as a referee I recall. I got free tix.

My uncle went from hero to villain over the years. Last time I saw him fight was in Auckland where he wore a black mask and fought as 'Dr. Death' in the mid seventies. He was still wrestling in his sixties too I heard.

I believe the first band I ever saw was "Tufano and Giammarese", who were the lead singers from the Buckinghams. It was around 1973 after I walked 20 miles for a March of Dimes Walk-a-thon. Of course I wouldn't consider that to be my first concert. The music just happened to be a bonus at the end of the walk.

The first concert for which I actually bought tickets was Foreigner at Chicago's Uptown Theater in 1977. I first heard them through a local radio station WKQX's "midnight album" feature on which they played their debut album. Nobody had heard of them when I got the tickets, so I was able to snag 15th row center floor seats. When we got to our seats, the mixing board occupied the entire 15th row. Luckily, we were able to exchange our tickets for 8th row seats!

I would have rather seen the original King Crimson as my first concert, but at least I got to see KC's original woodwind-playing keyboardist, Ian McDonald, perform his magic on sax, flute, clavinet and second guitar. One of the best parts of the show for me was the 10+ minute version of "Starrider" during which the band kicked some serious ass and McDonald played an extended flute solo!

As the band got bigger, and original members were quitting or being fired, my interest in them severely dropped. I think now Mick Jones is the only original member. I heard that recently, Jones got really sick before a show, and that he had to have somebody sub for him for that night. So for at least one night, there was an official version of Foreigner that had no original members in it.

oops again 1st sorta concert Bob Seger @ Birmingham MI. summer fair I believe 1968 he sang just released Rambling Gambling Man I had the 45, The Amboy Dukes were going to be there the next day. Missed that one damn, 1st LP I bought because of Baby please don't go. I was 12

B52s, December 3 1989, Cosmic Thing tour. Cincinnati Gardens. Toad the Wet Sprocket opened.

It was on a rather infamous anniversary as it was ten years to the day since the deadly tragedy at the Who concert at Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati.

Used to love me some Toad the Wet Sprocket - saw them live once

Weird thing is - I saw the B-52s open for the Who in Orlando in 1982 along with Joan Jett opening too..........felt sorry for both opening groups - they got pelted with all kinds of stuff even though they were putting on a good show.

Elton John - "Louder than the Concorde" tour on July 4, 1976 in Foxboro, MA. I was all of ten years old, brought to the concert by my older brother. General admission, so it was pretty crazy waiting for the gates to open. John Miles opened and was followed by Dave Mason. Elton flew over the stadium in a white helicopter and showed up on stage dressed as the Statue of Liberty. Played all the classics. It's great to listen to the DVDAs from that period. Wish we could get "Don't Shoot Me" on DVDA.

Sounds like a pretty koo show!!!!

Just came across this thread. Very late! Anyway, mine was Pink Floyd at Jeppeson Stadium in Houston on April 30, 1977. Still the best show I've ever seen, rain and all.

OK, no laughing...

My first concert was actually Elvis....sometime in the fall of 1976 at Assembly Hall in Champaign, IL. That was with my parents...lol.

First REAL concert was Peter Frampton at Horton Field House in Normal, IL in 1977 (could have been 76...not 100% sure). My first exposure to stoned, tripping and drunk people. I hadn't gotten into that yet...so I was straight. But my eyes were opened....
