You're SO right, RICKO. In the esteemed words of Forrest Gump .... 'Life IS like a box of chocolates ... you never know what you're going to get!'was a nice touch Rhino !
was wondering why the shipping box was so large

just kidding folks.
reminder - lets not bite the hand that feeds us, thanks Rhino. Thanks Steve
My box was off white, and the label wasn't square. I received only six shipping notice emails (found in my spam folder - ugh) and it didn't even note when it was on the truck to my house via USPS. I called Rhino several times, and I got a recording....ugh.was a nice touch Rhino !

No one can say now “There’s no market for Surround or physical media.” Hopefully, it’s just a matter of that we unexpectedly blew everything up with all our orders. And we can clean out Warner’s vaults of Quad titles, because we showed them interest in quality music.
I usually go to usps.com and put in my phone number as soon as I get tracking number so I get text message when it progresses and hits my mail box. This is not foolproof but better than not knowing anything about ETA. It's easy to do and you don't need to register or anything. Your spam folder is not Rhino's fault. My box was off white, and the label wasn't square. I am not even going to listen to these now. Rhino shipping totally killed it for me. I'm going stereo only from here on out.
Well, yes... but sales expectations for any music disc reissue used to be 50,000 units. Everyone now has lowered expectations. Another good thing is that these albums are all recorded, mixed and had recouped their recording budgets long ago. And Warner / Rhino does not have to license them from another company, all that red tape is nearly non-existent. Same with Sony Japan and their quad/surround series. Except there they have gone all out with packaging and charge double for them. This comment from the labels has always infuriated me. Not only because they would just regurgitate the line like an automaton parrot; but they have virtually no proof of this claim, either! Most, if not all, simply blurt how Quad was such a failure and that's the end of that.
But then Audio-Fidelity took a whack at it and found.... well, I'm going to say they must have found SOME success.
Dutton - Vocalion has been in the Quad game now for around a decade. He's still going strong and finding SOME success.
The market for Surround Sound/Physical media must be doing SO poorly that .... The Warner Group/Rhino Handmade is getting back into it for a second try?
And this has been with virtually ZERO promotion. 99% of this has been spread via word of mouth, with the occasional review in some online sites.
These companies just have to TRY. The status-quo has changed. You've got to think outside the box these days. You can't just put out two or three titles with limited market appeal; wait for them to not sell well, then point to that as an example and cry "There's no market." You've gotta put your ankle in it. I bet if they could get their poop in a group and come out with some heavy-hitting, BIG-NAME titles (Paul Simon, Edgar or Johnny Winter; Elvis, Eagles; Janis Joplin) and maybe spent .30 cents on advertising....
Ya might move a unit or two.
But I only worked in and managed retail for 20+ years. What the fuck do I know?
All I can say is some of you guys are lucky you didn't live during the, "Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for delivery" era. You sent for something and waited. No notices, no tracking, no communication, nothing. Just waited and hoped it eventually showed up. And, it almost always did.
Doug
Now I can render an opinion on the packaging...the singular Paranoid disc came in pristine condition and my second part of the order came yesterday and it is in pristine condition as well......I was able to "somewhat track" the shipping by using the USPS Informed delivery program...I could tell when the label was created....and when the package was actually given to the USPS....and with that information I got the USPS tracking number and knew when it was out for delivery....I have had this free service for several years and it has come in handy with letter mail...it shows a photocopy of your mail....when possible...it is not always exact...because the local postal service might not deliver it promptly...but it helps if you think you lost some valuable piece of mail or you suspect it was misdelivered....Let me just address a few things in your post...I will highlight them for you...I see you joined in 2022...maybe that explains some of your responses....how many people would buy 4 CDs at once...just about everybody on this forum...we have bought bloated box sets for years with about every useless accessory you could imagine just to get one disc...waiting over a month for the product...that is light speed in the surround world...some of us waited 2 years for a product that was listed on Acoustic Sounds before it was finally available...waiting for anything these days is anathema..nobody likes to wait for anything...you are right...but in this case....in this niche hobby it wasn't a long wait....enthusiasm dampened by cracked and broken jewel cases in 2023...you will be hearing the same thing in 2025...if the physical media survives that much longer...and since you are so enamored with amazon....I have received damaged orders from them...mostly due to automation...but it still happens...in fact some of us probably remember getting some expensive box sets from amazon that were damaged....It is easier and ultimately cheaper to provide better packaging...this point has merit...however in this specific release I can only comment on my purchase...I have received one disc and it was in pristine condition...I haven't received the other 3 yet...only then could I render a comment....however you have to look at the big picture...in a lot of cases the damage isn't as widespread as it appears...sometimes the minority of customers are more vocal as the silent majority don't feel it necessary to comment on the topic....
Let me just make one more observation...you use the word premium to describe the cost of these 4 discs...in this hobby I have paid considerably more on the secondary market for older surround discs that were USED...many others on here have done the same....I don't think the standard business model is relevant with this niche market...maybe you have heard of Oppo blu ray players...they were very popular with the surround community...when they closed their doors the secondary market for them exploded...used players sold for many times their original price when new...these discs...especially Paranoid will be worth several times it's original Rhino price point in the near future
That's strange. How you see Rhino order status in their page?

Who’s delivering them, ups or Royal Mail?I'm quite surprised reading some of the comments about shipping/stock. I'm in the UK and I ordered all 4 on Tuesday evening. They shipped on Wednesday and are arriving today, which was unexpected.
