For those that have the Palladia Channel(channel 572 on Directv)...on Monday night at 9pm Eastern Standard Time..Jeff Lynne's ELO at Hyde Park concert will be aired several times...

Watching this right now. So great to see it. I had gone to London last September to see Kate Bush. This show was on the day that I was flying home and I wasn't able to stick around and go see it.

There is a little bit of string action in the rear speakers but otherwise the surround mix isn't too discrete. It is a great performance though so will certainly be buying the blu-ray when it's released.

I'm watching it too, and I'm also enjoying the performance. I had always hoped that the Zoom concert film would be reissued on Blu-Ray one day, but I think this concert might be better! The full string section really helps fill out the sound in such an unbelievable way, and Jeff Lynne is definitely in top-form on this particular concert. Going to continue watching and enjoying it! :)

I think you're right about this being better than the Zoom performance. Not only does the full string section certainly help, but I think this band has more energy. Hopefully Jeff will be inspired to keep playing live.

I'm watching the Jeff Lynne(ELO)concert that I recorded several days ago...so far the performance is stellar...Livin' Thing gave me goosebumps...high energy performance...brings back a ton of memories from that time period..I've always felt that ELO never got enough respect...they did have great sales...but aren't mentioned as a super group by very many..they had 27 top 40 hits in the UK and aren't in the Rock Hall Of Fame...in fact Jeff is the ONLY member of the Traveling Wilburys not in the HALL..it appears the blu ray won't offer a surround version...which is disappointing...

There is NO chance Jeff won't make it to the Hall....yeah, yeah...I know, I know...it's mostly a farce...but I gotta believe he will get there...if he doesn't...I'm going postal...

Just a reminder for those that have never seen KANSAS:MIRACLES OUT OF NOWHERE...which is on at 1pm(Eastern Standard Time)..Jeff Lynne at 2:30...Styx The Grand Illusion/Pieces of Eight at 4pm...Sound City at 9pm...Motley Crue:Carnival of Sins at midnight..all of these are on the Palladia Channel TODAY...Eastern Standard Time....check them out!

Speaking of ELO not making it to the RR Hall Of Fame...what about the Doobie Brothers...they have been doing it for a LONG time at a high level...and a few others to consider...Dire Straits...Def Leppard..Motley Crue...and someone close to your heart...Ted Nugent...but Ted might not make it for political reasons....he's a magnet for controversy..I think he belongs on his guitar ability alone...

We will see...I hope ELO makes it...

Me too! Such a wonderful band. There are really only a handful of bands/artists from back in my early teen years than made a huge impression...ELO was one of them...OK, since I mentioned that...who were those bands that made an impression at an earlier age for me...??

* ELO
* Boston
* Queen
* Fleetwood Mac
* Ted Nugent (yeah, yeah)
* McCartney & Wings
* Stevie Wonder

These few are the ones that hit my radar bigtime...and I mean really from 7th-10th grade. A very impressionable time in my life. Obviously, as I slipped into later high school years...the flood gates opened...bands like Sabbath, AC/DC, Priest, etc., etc., took over my thinking... :)

Totally agree there...and his vision with The Amboy Dukes....great, groundbreaking stuff. Hey! How bout some Ted in Quad? Or Dukes?? Whoa...

I actually preferred Nugent when he was with the Amboy Dukes, and not his politics.

What? Why didn't I say the Beatles? Well....I have a good answer. Because, I didn't really know much about them...at that time of my life. The funny thing is....I was hearing their music being played...but had little idea it was them....that knowledge didn't come till later...honestly...once I got out of high school and become open to all era's of music....

I too was late to the Beatles music...I was more Stones at that time...more rock than pop...

I was well aware of the Beatles from an early age but for some bizarre reason didn't realize for years that "A Day in the Life" was them! Always loved the song, had no idea who it was.
