I was well aware of the Beatles from an early age but for some bizarre reason didn't realize for years that "A Day in the Life" was them! Always loved the song, had no idea who it was.
I can't think of another band that changed(evolved)so much(and so quickly) in style and actually increased their popularity...
Totally agree there...and his vision with The Amboy Dukes....great, groundbreaking stuff. Hey! How bout some Ted in Quad? Or Dukes?? Whoa...
Speaking of ELO not making it to the RR Hall Of Fame...what about the Doobie Brothers...they have been doing it for a LONG time at a high level...and a few others to consider...Dire Straits...Def Leppard..Motley Crue...and someone close to your heart...Ted Nugent...but Ted might not make it for political reasons....he's a magnet for controversy..I think he belongs on his guitar ability alone...
I was in my local post office today mailing a package and decided to purchase a little bit of the past

Hey all - though I cannot confirm how this all works, but the Scorpions are in concert September 12th, 2015 in Brooklyn, NY (9:10 PM Eastern Time)...and I "guess" they are streaming the show live via YAHOO Live Nation. Here is the LINK in case you want to give it a shot...
Good find my man....more about it here..also of note...things that bounce...just saying..
For those "ultra intense" fans of Bob Dylan...there is a Criterion Collection Blu Ray being released entitled Don't Look Back....it APPEARS this one is more about Dylan the person...not the musician....I get the impression that there is very little music in this presentation...one reason I'm not interested in it...but I wanted to mention it for those aforementioned "ultra intense"(sounds better than fanboy)fans....here is the release...
Here is a clip about the piece
I wish someone would "whisper" in Jeff Lynne's ear about the virtues of surround sound...his recent decision to release the Hyde Park concert in "stereo" was a major mistake...the cool thing about Jeff is HE owns the rights to all the ELO catalog...so if someone could convince him that hi rez music is something that could sell...we could have some awesome music...and he's been given the green light to release some new ELO music...check this recent article out here
Are you sure Jeff owns the ELO catalogue? Last time I checked (just now), I saw that the vast majority of the ELO recordings were owned by a subsidiary of Sony Music.
It might seem positively counterintuitive that music as multilayered, even stratified, as Lynne's is wouldn't receive a multichannel presentation on Blu-ray, but there's a telling quote from Jeff himself in the accompanying insert booklet which "reveals" all: "It's important to me that viewers experience the Hyde Park show exactly as it was performed on the night. . .in stereo." Now some may want to quibble with that presentation of what the audio experience in Hyde Park actually was that evening, but the score above reflects what's actually on the disc, namely an LPCM 2.0 mix, rather than what might have been on it. The stereo mix sounds a bit muddled at times in the mid to lower midranges, a place where Lynne tends to like to voice his keyboards and even guitars, as beds for the lush vocals resting from that range upward. That said, generally speaking this is a clear and well defined presentation that certainly is extremely well mixed for a stereo offering, with excellent prioritization given vocals.
The audio review of this title (ELO/Jeff Lynne live in Hyde Park) says it all:
Does Jeff Lynne not know that you can have BOTH stereo & surround audio options on DVD & Blu-Ray discs?! Good grief...
