ARTICLE FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS...

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Paul McCartney says he met with two of the women who integrated Little Rock's Central High School, saying the 1957 crisis inspired the Beatles' hit song "Blackbird."

McCartney performed Saturday to a sold-out crowd in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Afterward, McCartney's Instagram and Facebook accounts posted a photo of him with Elizabeth Eckford and Thelma Mothershed Wair, two members of the Little Rock Nine.

The photo described the women as "pioneers of the civil rights movement and inspiration for 'Blackbird.'" McCartney told concertgoers Saturday that he followed the desegregation struggles from England and that he wanted to write a song in support.

The nine black students integrated Central High School in September 1957 after President Dwight Eisenhower sent in federal troops to escort them into the school.

For those who are interested, here's the full-length audio of the new song "You Bring The Summer" from the forthcoming album "Good Times" by the Monkees.
The song was written by fellow surround sound enthusiast Andy Partridge from XTC! :)

Sounds like an XTC song sung by the Monkees!!! And up until now I hadn't realized how close they were...
I really like it....

Mickey Dolenz sounds VERY good after 50+ years of singing!!!

I have been WAY behind on listening to my new purchases...but another one for the pile came today...I love these compilation discs...this one is certainly a mixture of styles...what amazed me is when I saw Neil Sedaka's name on the list...for those that don't know...Neil graduated from high school and jumped right into a music career in a band named The Tokens...he then departed on his own in 1957..you might be familiar with Neil's old band...they had a big hit...The Lion Sleeps Tonight...Neil hit it big in the 60's..not only with his own hit songs but writing for others...but by the end of the 60's he had faded away in the US and had a little success in Australia...I didn't recognize the song(Laughter in The RainJ) and later discovered it was from the mid 70's....Neil had made a comeback and this song reached number 1...btw..he is still alive..he celebrated his 77th birthday in March...I couldn't find anything on who mastered this disc...it was manufactured in Japan..

Clint I have this on order from Deep Discount but they now specify it as backordered. Do you recommend it? Like yourself, I also love these compilation discs. BTW, Gino Vannelli also had a few hit records back in the day on A&M Records. Saw him live once in Manhattan and he was really spectacular. His album Powerful People was a big hit. Where are they NOW?
