Definitely need to order that Timeless compilation.

I'm a huge Gino Vannelli fan. He is still performing and did a live album in '06. Several of his albums will be a workout for your system. The Mofi 1/2 speed of Powerful People sounds terrific! The Nautilus 1/2 speed of Brother to Brother sounds great. The dbx encoded LP of BtB sounds even better, but you need a dbx decoder.

A few sleepers that I highly recommend: Black Cars is from the early 80's and is the edgiest album Gino ever did. Lots of synth stuff. Crazy Life is his first and nearly all instruments are played by Gino & his brother Joe. Live in Montreal CD is a great overview from '91. I've only seen that on a Pony Canyon Japan CD.

I'm not very hot on his recent stuff, since his voice seems to be worse for the wear.

Gino Vannelli would be great on SACD.

Clint I have this on order from Deep Discount but they now specify it as backordered. Do you recommend it? Like yourself, I also love these compilation discs. BTW, Gino Vannelli also had a few hit records back in the day on A&M Records. Saw him live once in Manhattan and he was really spectacular. His album Powerful People was a big hit. Where are they NOW?

I don't have the SHM version...but I would guess there isn't a huge difference...if any at all...maybe someone on here has both versions..

The DVD-A issue from Hi-Res music is a great one to have. I'm still thinking of getting the Audio Fidelity edition though, because it would also give me a good standard CD layer for the car and work.

Rush - Power Windows

Man I love this, always did. I'm one of those who think that Rush did NOT lose it post Moving Pictures. Ps. I'm listening to the original issue, if you're gonna have a proper version go for that one of the HD tracks - NOT the 1997 remaster. Avoid. Way more loudness in comparison.

Got this when it came out on LP (even though it was an early digital recording)---- still got it , sounds great...oh, I love my Ortofon cart/stylus that is sooooo bright!!!

HDTracks is killing it with there 24bit stereo downloads, releasing 14 Doobie Brothers tomorrow. An amazing amount every week. The download company's are trying, and they will be successful, to blow away the vinyl market. I received the new 2016 remastered by Ric Ocasik, The Elektra Years Box Set of The Cars, RBCD, sounds absolutely fantastic, RBCD Stereo, played through the high end external DAC. I don't think I need the new MOFI, The Cars. Of course HDTracks has the Box Set in 24bit also.
I received the Led Zep, DVD-A 5.1, How The West Was Won, and super great, even at the $65.00 I spent on it, what took me so long?
Last I received the BD-A Lynyrd Skynrd's Southern Surroundings and it is stellar. I have the same as DVD-A also. There are more songs on the DVD-A which has Freebird Live, whereas the BD-A has less songs and Sweet Home Alabama Live. After listening to them both I would go with the DVD-A.

Is Freebird on the Bluray and if so, is it Live or Studio?

Wow, Markie: SIXTEEN Doobies.

Thanks for the heads~up on the LS Southern Surroundings BD~A. I have the DVD/RBCD and am just going to stick with that one (w/Elliot Scheiner's incredible remix).

How the West Was Won should be played at MAXIMUM volume (as though I need to tell YOU that). Now bring out ALL LED ZEP in maximum surround.

Did you get my PM regarding the Dream Theater MLP DVD~A 5.1.........YOU NEED THAT ALBUM. Superb sound and great surround mix. http://www.deepdiscount.com/dream-theater/016861760458

Stereo? What is that?

OK, Snoodster, anything for the birthday boy.
CD and DVD combo: One RBCD Greatest Hits 14 Tracks, One DVD-V, Live at BBC, One DVD-A Surround by Elliot Scheiner: 1.Saturday Night Special 2. Gimme Three Steps 3.Swamp Music 4. Gimme Back My Bullits 5. The Ballad of Curtis Loew 6. You Got That Right 7. That Smell 8. All I can do is Write About It 9. Simple Man 10. Free Bird.

BD-A Elliot Scheiner 1. Saturday Night Special 2. Gimme Three Steps 3. Swamp Music 4. Gimme Back My Bullits 5. The Ballad of Curtis Loew 6. You Got That Right 7. That Smell 8. All I can Do Is Write About It 9. Simple Man 10. Free Bird 11. Sweet Home Alabama (Live)

So as you can see, I was wrong. The only live Freebird is on the CD of the DVD combo pack. The surround DVD-A and BD-A are the same, studio surround. The BD-A adds the surround Live Sweet Home Alabama.
Even though I was wrong I hope I made a good comeback.
For me, the money goes for the DVD combo pack, now that I own both.

Ralphie, thanks for the heads up.
Speaking of stereo, you know I am a sucker for cardboard mini LP's and nobody does it better than the Japanese. That said, I was tripping around at Amazon UK and stumbled on the new box set, CREAM, four cardboard mini LP's in a clam box, I have no idea why but I purchased. What a bunch of crap, the mini LP's are copy's of copy's and the printing is all muddy, whereas the Japanese versions released last year as SHM SACD's are gorgeous. I don't even want to listen to the discs for fear of even more crap.
Speaking of Japan, last year they where on fire with SACD releases and this year nothing, why?

It seems Markie, manufacture of SACDs has shifted from Japan to Hong Kong. Except for a few Warner classical titles.....no more SHM~SACDs. Japan is still releasing Blu Spec RBCDs and budget remasters but maybe it's the econonmy in Japan which isn't as robust as it used to be.

So far, I've been VERY happy with the Hong Kong SACDs (especially the compilation discs) but thank the stars we have Audio Fidelity in the states to keep us in quality multichannel SACDs.

Sorry about your shitty CREAM mini LP purchase but at least you have those quality Cream SHM~SACDs as a consolation. They were great remasters.
