Omitting the Blu-ray Atmos disc was not the only mistake made on this set. It appears that the Target Special Edition Vinyl box set spine incorrectly spelled Revolver as “Revoler” with the 2nd letter “v” missing. How do these things happen?

Here's a comprehensive review of the Revolver Vinyl box set from Parlogram Youtube site. He provides an excellent, in-depth review comparing the new 2022 mono LP to both the original 1966 and 2014 pressings. He also reviews the stereo mix. There is a brief reference to the Dolby Atmos mix. He acknowledges that it should have been included in the deluxe box and suggests that the omission may have been to keep the price affordable (which it certainly was not). He listened to the Dolby Atmos on Apple Music through his Airpods pro and enjoyed it, commenting that it was more immersive and cohesive. He suggests that while Giles Martin has acknowledged that the omission of the Dolby Atmos mix was a mistake, he suggests that it's probably unlikely that it will be issued in physical format.

I'm chuckling because only The Beatles could compel someone to write a 30 minute review of an album that is 35 minutes long. :ROFLMAO:

There is actually a very interesting section in there on how a mono album is cut. Well worth looking at.

(I complimented the reviewer on YouTube because I think he did an excellent job. I also talked about how only The Beatles could compel someone to write a 30 minute review of a 35 minute album. He loved my comment!)

I just converted my 7.1 system to a dolby atmos system and am getting 6 months of Apple Music free. The revolver dolby atmos mix is excellent very immersive and will now become my go to version of my favorite album! As good as Revolver is in Atmos ----I do think the Pepper Atmos mix is even more revelatory! I heard some details I had never heard before in that mix - very impressive!! All that said - still we should have been able to purchase a physical copy of the Revolver atmos mix. Shame on Apple!!

What about Abbey Road?

And had they put the blu-ray with the surround mixes in the set, it may have challenged Taylor Swift for No. 1? o_O

Having read people’s comments about not having a BR disc in the package, I’m even more confused as to why there is no download option for the multichannel mix. Seems like that would be a no brainer.

Because the vast majority of people would have no idea how to play a downloaded multichannel mix?

I for one am happy to be part of a dying breed, I will not pay a monthly subscription to listen to music i’m not allowed to own
They reckon they've caught onto a new scam where you can give people less and charge a lot lot more. Obviously streaming services are giving a big kickback for the rights to play the multi-channel versions in the hope that people will (because it's The Beatles) willingly dive in and sign a contract. The more people who ignore streaming the better then we might start getting more physical product. I'm with madscot on this one. If Pink Floyd can release "Animals" as a standalone Blu-Ray then why can't the rest of them.

The idea is, most consumers prefer to stream. We, on this forum, are a dying breed.
I wonder if most of the demographic that would be interested about a pricey Beatles re-issue are the consumers that prefer to stream?
I'd wager that's not the case. I'd bet that 80% of the people that would spend $100+ for a lavish box set from a band from the 1960s would be more interested in a physical disc than streaming.

I think you are right. Unfortunately, the vast majority of that same group don't care about surround. You can certainly buy a lavish box of Revolver in stereo.

I'm just raising my hand. I like box sets, have many. Been on this site for quite awhile and always hear people say I won't buy unless it has a stand alone disc.
I just think there are things that are cool about box sets.
I get disappointed just as much as everyone when no surround is included, I hate that.
The stereo Revolver box set is really good.

Box sets are cool. Although as I have accumulated so many over the years I have realized that 90% of what you get sits on a shelf inside the box forever once you've looked and listened to everything the first time. Hell, I have some box sets that I haven't ever gotten around to listening to some of the content. So I have become much more selective about buying them. Of course when you see one for 50% or more off the regular price, you have to pick it up on general principles. That's what it will take for me to buy "Revolver" or the GnR "Use Your Illusion " sets without a surround mix.
