"Back to the Future" is pretty good.

A favorite of mine, a movie probably no one has heard of that wasn't a teenager in 1970, is "The Strawberry Statement".

The movie is horribly dated, but it was a favorite of mine back then. College kids protesting war and all that, pretty tame but I would imagine that today it would be slow and boring. The tunes fit the movie, though, and even the instrumentals are nice. I used to play the album a lot back then.

"Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush"..early Traffic title track and Spencer Davis Group, with Barry Evans in his premier, very tame by current standards, sex romp comedy. Still love the Doctor in the House TV series.

Gerry Goldsmith - Planet of the Apes.
Vangellis - Blade Runner.
John Barry - Dances with Wolves.
Elmer Bernstein - Heavy Metal: The Score.
Leonard Rosenman - The Lord of the Rings(1978).
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

For me the song Pure Imagination is up there with Rainbow Connection, brings a year to your eye.

Bernard Herrmann's brilliant Score for Brian Di Palma's OBSESSION [recently released as a 5.1 96/24 BD~A] HRAudio.net - Herrmann: Obsession

It's a re~recording in brilliant 5.1 sonics and I highly recommend it. Here's a spot on review from an Amazon reviewer:

5.0 out of 5 stars Superlative new performance of Bernard Herrmann's great gothic score
Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2015
Format: Audio CD/BD~A
This is a superlative new recording of Bernard Herrmann's great gothic score, performed by the excellent City of Prague orchestra. The set includes a CD and a Blu-ray audio disc that can play in any normal Blu-ray deck (including Sony Playstation 3). This is the complete score which includes about 25 minutes of music that were missing from most previous CD versions.

Many consider OBSESSION to be one of maestro Herrmann's greatest scores, and this performance was recorded with today's improved sonics and attention to orchestral detail. Listening to this rendition is like sitting in a concert hall that has superb acoustics. The orchestra here actually corrects some small inconsistencies that arose during the original 1976 recording sessions.

All in all, this is a masterful presentation of one of the cinema's most beloved scores, a score that for far too long had been allowed to drift into obscurity.

Hard to find, but the vinyl editon of the Mark Isham OST, besides being musically excellent, features an incredibly dynamic range. Leads you in with atmospherics, and quietly builds to a widescreen swell that will have you diving for the volume control.
