If these BD-A discs are eventually released in 5.1 ( as it appears ) it's potentially going to bring a lot of new consumers to this format, which is nothing but very positive !
I can imagine people buying these discs ( not knowing they're 5.1, or have knowledge of 5.1 ) and being blown away & surprised by the format.
The great thing is, they're in a Blu Ray box, that every consumer is familiar with. ( except for the different heading, the important familiar Blu Ray logo is present ) Presentation wise, these don't look " different ", which is good, because the consumer does not then feel confused, and think, " What is this " ? Or be put off, because it looks unfamiliar & different.

i read it like brad pitts read french in the "inglorious bastards".

i read , i took french in school and lived in Montreal for a yr. There will be releases in surround, assuming this blu ray format takes off. they would not have wetted our appetite if they were not considering it. i ordered the supertramp, if you read the bottom of the link, you'll notice it says 2.0 like the stones grrrr was, which i got as well.

I cant believe UMG is not releasing them in the states, that to me seems like a dumb move. But whom am I to take, I actually once got a check for $3.61 as royalities on a 45 single i played on in the mid 70's.

Yes, i'm well aware of the 2.0 info.

It is criminal, that these discs do not have an immediate release in the States ( or U.K. ) ( or anywhere else for that matter !! )

from the information on FNAC the web site
It looks like Melody nelson has a 5.1 track
However Layla is just stereo (dispite there being two mixes available one of which won a Grammy)

As has been said time will tell but experiance suggests a complete cluster f^*£ agian from Universal

very disappointing about Layla (though UMG can always pull the dreaded double-dip.. and re-release it in surround.. if the format lasts that long!)..

..but the appearance of 5.1 on at least one of the French titles is more promising.. if all those Johnny Hallyday & Jacques Brel blu-rays (plus the Barbara one!) have the same 5.1 mixes as the old SACDs that go for crazy money now I'll order those too, so I can stop losing sleep over finding the SACDs for anything less than megabucks!!

with no shipping notification of the order for these I placed with Fnac, I'm guessing the earliest they'd send them out would be tomorrow (supposed release date) but I don't bank on receiving them much sooner than anyone here who's ordered them from cdjapan, they'll probably take longer (in true Euro style)...!

My order status on Amazon.fr is still the same, Adam. I reckon cdjapan will have very likely dispatched their orders already ? ( 4 days is the quickest I've received from cdjapan / Airmail....but could take as long as 12 days. )
Interesting to see how long it takes from Amazon.fr ??

An update....and it doesn't look good on Amazon.fr ! Item says " temporarily out of stock ". Now that normally means, they don't know when they will have them.....:(

Certainly won't be shipping out, in the next day or two ! ( I've placed order with cdjapan....take a chance on customs...at least you can find out the status of orders with them ! )

At least they say in stock on fnac. Any e mail notification, Adam ?

FNAC are showing all titles "en stock"... yet I've still had no delivery notification or anything from them.

HMV Japan are now saying 21st of May for the rock/pop/jazz titles and 10th of June for the Classical discs.

CDJapan are saying "Availability: within 3-7 days".

I just ordered from Amazon.de( germany) since i'm a idiot I do not know a word of German, i hope it took. Does anybody here read german and can they tell me what the Supertramp - breaskfast in america says. I know about the blu ray. I want to know what it said about availablity and delivery

the price on Amazon was 19,99 Eyro but when I ordered it was 16.80 and 3,37 shiping for a total of $ 20,17.

According to a Parisian poster on the Steve Hoffman Forums, Fnac has these blu rays in stock now..

http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/ume-prepping-blu-ray-audio-titles-for-europe.314383/page-15

When I say in stock, I mean in-store.

Further to the post on there, i.e. product description. This was the rest of the transalation on fnac, or part of it, that I didn't post.

Blu Ray Audio Pure, incorporate the function, MSHUFFLE. What's this ? It's simple, it will be possible to download the audio files from your Blu Ray Audio format pure FLAC WAV MP3, on a site dedicated. This is to import them on a nomadic player or smartphone.
It is already possible to extract the tracks on the current Blu Ray, but this requires bypass Copyright ( The Famous DRM ) and have a minimum of computer knowledge. On a Pure Audio Blu Ray, it becomes simple, quick & legal.

( Not sure about this download format for FLAC e.t.c. or even understand how it works ??? )

First feedback on the Stevie Wonder blu-ray (posted by a French member of the Steve Hoffman Forums)..

"I listened the stevie wonder blu ray. I m sorry but i can t compare to any other version because i never owned an copy of this one. On my gear it sounds really good, with solid details. Not aggressive tones, bass seems to be a bit boomy . Otherwise it s detailed, middle and high frequencies are balanced. Voice sounds great too !
No word about any mastering enginneer for this version. It s 24/96 according to my player. I prefered the pcm track by far. Dtshd and truehd have less presence than the pcm one.

Sorry not to be more specific about the audio quality, just my first impression on those 105 mn listened ! If it can helps...

Happy listening

Eric
"

Sounds like the same mastering as the Japanese SHM-SACD to me (which is not bad at all).. hmm..

My cdjapan order is " Processed " so hoping it ships in the next 24hrs. I'm looking forward to comparing to the SHM-SACD. ( Which I think sounds excellent ! )
Just ordered two discs, other being Supertramp. ( Never owned this on any format. )
