I would guess so. Looks like we won't see them in the U.K till Sept, at the earliest ? Crazy to give the " exclusivity " to FNAC. Do they think they'll make more money this way ? Not using Amazon ( as such ) is a major balls up !!!

I can't imagine what possessed them to give the exclusive rights to FNAC..!? Amazon.fr would have been the sensible way forward.. maybe they don't want these to be a success, or just don't want to make it easy for people in other countries to buy them for territorial/licensing reasons!? either way they're going the right way about making it hard for us non-France domicile type folk! hic! :p

OMG- this is getting so bad it's laughable! And I thought the dvd-a/sacd marketing was bad!

in the absence of record shops, I guess they're turning to supermarkets and cash and carry's to peddle their wares..!?

BIZARRE @:

thought: whoever bought a record specifically for the sound quality while filling their trolly with bulk-bought tinned tuna and dried pasta shells..?! maybe something from the Top 40 (or 20, or whatever) on CD, at a stretch.. but high fidelity audiophile blu-ray music in your basket nestling next to your Nescafé Gold Blend? I don't see that happening..!

non-plussed.. bewitched, bothered and befuddled..!! :p

One of the Universal guys, I e mailed on Facebook a couple of weeks ago, has posted an article from Le Figaro, about said format. ( I thought of posting, " Are you the little shit, who ignored me " ? )

"tell me what the papers say..."

I guess they had no time to respond to a potential paying customer when they were preoccupied licking the arses of the Press..!!!

The words, MONEY ( Lack of ) CONFIDENCE IN PRODUCT ( Lack of ) COMMITMENT ( Lack of ) come to mind.

I can't wait for my BDA's of Supertramp, Bob Marley & Stevie to turn up! at least then I can finally get some sort of idea what these things sound like..!! I wish more people who've bought these would report back on how they sound...!!!@:

I’ve been trying to think of a reason why they would almost be proud that (almost all) the discs do not contain 5.1 music. It doesn’t seem to make sense. It might be some kind of translation issue from that French press release, but I doubt it. I wonder if it’s damage limitation. Perhaps they have already decided that 5.1 is just not worth it (for whatever reason – money, effort, lack of interest) and so they are trying to make a virtue out of not including 5.1 – kind of, “proper audiophiles wouldn’t want that tacky surround stuff, and it will only reduce the quality of the stereo, so you’re better off without it”. We know that isn’t true, but it's marketing. It would also explain why they are not including pre-existing surround mixes, which on the surface seems a no-brainer thing to do: it would only create an expectation of more future BDA discs being in surround, which they do not want.:(

OK, so that’s my negative thoughts out of the way. Totally agree that as many as possible should comment on the FB page to ask for surround mixes – that’s got to help show them there is demand.(y)

i think just selling them at FNAc and then costco sucks. it shows they aren't putting their heart or resources into making these a success. however , they the blu rays are now available. how many times have we been given release dates for stuff only to see it never materialize.

i tried to order from the FNAc but I got hung up on the postal stuff. do they ship to the states?

I will be doing so, of course ! My order still says preparing. ( I wish I had bought Bob Marley, as well now ! )

I probably scared all our French members off ! ? :(

What site did you order them through Dixie?

With all due respect, IMHO, you are all missing the obvious here. It's a cash grab, just as much as $60 SHM-SACD's are. IF, and a huge IF at this point, music consumers are the suckers that they believe we are, then we buy 2ch BDA's in droves. Later on, they can reintroduce the same titles in 5.1, so that we can turn around and buy them all over again. It's the same mentality that killed Quad and DVD-A, with their competing formats. The mentality is called greed. Yes, everyone is entitled to make a profit. It's a lose-lose proposition: if we buy this stuff, we are playing into their hands, and screw ourselves. If we don't buy them, they think that the format isn't viable, so we lose.

I think you probably hit the nail on the head, QL !!
