Just ordered the "Tea For The Tillerman" blu-ray from Amazon Canada (y)

Release date still showing May 21st.

Have you given any of your 3 discs a spin today, Adam ? I've played Supertramp a couple of times ( which i'm liking more each time, from a musical point of view.....I think you have to approach this disc & others, without wearing Stevie Wonder glasses !! ( Just spinning SW again....)

I'm tempted to buy some more of these first releases....given you can get them in a couple of days....but I have to be aware of the dreaded finances !! :(

I'm thinking why didn't I order 3 titles, for the offer, and save money !! ?:howl

I just ordered tea for the tillerman and breakfast in america from Canada.
OH Canada Our true and glorious homeland. spent a lot of time in northern Ontario dogsledding in the winter, canoeing in the summer.

Question- I did not see the Marley legend on Amazaon Canada.

I can't find the Bob Marley on Amazon.ca either! :yikes

maybe it's some sort of cultural exchange!?
The French get Bob Marley and Canada gets Cat Stevens..!! :p

I'm hoping when these blu-ray audio's come out in other countries..
: Sweden will get the rumoured Abba
: Ireland will get the promised U2
: and England will get a load of Queen(s)!

:51banana:

Rumour has it that England already has a raft of Queens!

all the sailors love a raft of queens! :D

.."Rumour Has It"..!! Now some Donna Summer on blu ray would keep the Queens quiet, whether English, Swedish, Cute-ish, whateverish Queens..!! :p

what would you like to see/hear on blu-ray hi-fi disc Queen Linda?

I used to be a Queen, but now I'm a Goddess!!

Reginald Kenneth Dwight in 5.1 is what I'm pining for. The 'OO would be great in 5.1.

ah yes, silly me! The Quaddess with the most-est!

I'm up for a bit of Reggie and The 'Oo an' all, good call..! (y)

I'd add the Dildos to that., pref 5.1 but if not possible then flat transfers of the same sources Universal used for the last set of Steely Dan remasters in true Hi-Rez stereo would be similarly amazing!

"Universal go back Jack and sell it again.."@:

I am currently spinning Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire de Melody Nelson.

It is the same mix we got in Dulbee previously, so we have a winner here.

Alas, for us surround lovers, it is also the only winner we are getting at this point. :flame

One word regarding the downloads codes. The first day, I could not get them working (I was receiving an e-mail with an invalid download code). I contacted the support at hifipureaudio.com and everything was working within 24 hours... well almost!

Today, I tried to dowload Serge Gainsbourg as FLAC files, but received a link for a MP3 download.(n) Tried a second time immediately, and finally received a second link for the proper FLAC download.

I dowloaded the Supertramp FLAC files earlier this week, and succeeded in loading them again today: looks like there is no control at the number of times one can dowload these files. I won't be reporting this problem to hifipureaudio.com this time.

Thank you for the feedback. Lets just hope there will be a lot more 5.1 releases !

I purchased Stevie Wonder & Supertramp. I didn't have any problems with the download. If I've understood correctly you can download twice ( or twice for both download options ) ??

Yup: I was able to dowload both the FLAC and MP3 of Supertramp earlier this week, and managed to dowload the FLAC again today: just try it!

Regarding the problem with receiving a MP3 link instead of the FLAC dowload, it happened to me two times out of three so far: so there is something fishy with their dowload procedure somehow...

I'd only downloaded the FLAC, will try it again....and the MP3, during the week.

great news the downloads aren't geographically shackled to France! I'll D'L them in FLAC and mp3 in the week for fits n giggles.

meantime, I'm surprised no-one's analysed the waveforms & DR values on any of these discs yet.. it'd be neat to then use that data collected to see just what the sources are for these...

..as I said over at the SHF, I suspect Stevie is the SHM-SACD mastering (if its the 2000/2001 Kevin Reeves job, I must have gone deaf since I last heard that abomination, the new BDA sounds nothing like it!).. Supertramp could be the Greg Calbi Deluxe Edition mastering (which could explain why it's my least favourite of the 3 BDA's I got).. but Bob Marley's totally up for grabs until someone with data from both the 2012 HD Tracks and the Ted Jensen Deluxe Edition can make any comparisons and then a definite answer on just what the sources are. The Bob Marley booklet cites the Ted Jensen mastering.. its the only one of the three that mentions any mastering or sources, though I believe a number of the French artist BDA releases namecheck one particular mastering engineer (name escapes me at the mo).. hmm..

The more I read the posts on this thread, the happier I am I didn't spend any $$ on these. What a shame that no effort whatsoever was put into this by the record companies :(

Did you expect anything less?? :(

In fairness, I thought this could have been a real opportunity for something special. Consumer 5.1 amplifier units with bluray players, all connected with HDMI, are now common. Most are far from spectacular but functional (heck, my system, which is super expensive to me, would be only low-mid range by the standards here).

Anyway, the sort of audio quality that previously required specialised players (DVD-A/SACD) or a specialised nerd in residence (digital solutions, like I use) is still yet to be enjoyed by most. Most people are highly impressed when I demo high res surround sound to them, as they've never heard it in their life. So I think there is an untapped market out there that has no idea about all the quirky things we play with on this forum. And these morons are stuffing it up with stereo only blu-ray.

Probably goes without saying that I would have blown a lot of money I don't have if these were in 5.1. I'll only pick up, perhaps, the Cat Stevens, U2 if they release it. Otherwise, meh.
