(unrelated question, Rob.. have you got the HDMI Video Out on your Oppo set to "RGB Level"? it should be "Video Level".. those Info bars at top and bottom should not be as black/blend into the black of that BDA interface, they should be slightly paler/greyer, otherwise films will all look too dark and blacks too black/oversaturated.).

Back home now, trying to see how Supergrantramp pans out in PLII..

Hmm.. Certainly not got the same instant WOW-factor of the new BDA Stevie processed through 5.1..

Dixie - what and where do I look on my FNAC acct ? thanks Bruce in Cincinnati, Ohio

Pleeeeease do when you get the chance!

you got to set it to PLII Music, switch off the centre channel.... and let rip!

Stevie is amazing! Supertramp's ok.. some of Bob Marley works out really really well in PLII ("Exodus" in particular, very Quad-like!).

So you'll have to get Bob too eh!? ;) ;)

An interesting discovery but I can't help but feel a little cheated that to get what we should've had as standard from these discs, we're having to mess about with amp settings to get the best from them

Bruce, you would have had to set up an account, to place an order....so if you've done this correctly, you should have login details, i.e. e mail address and password.

If you can log in, it should state your order details ( scroll down to the bottom of the page )
Obviously makes life easier, if you have a facility to translate the pages !

I've just played Supertramp through PLII and sitting inline with rears speakers, do get a sense of separation, it's not a bad listen, but just playing through SW again, and it's in a different league ! It is almost " multi channel SACD like " It really is an audible joy !! I guess this must be down to the quality of the master tapes ?
The detail is really so good, and the vocals are wonderful !

It's probably more dependent on the # of tracks the master tape had. More different sounds would make it more likely to synthesize better.

totally agree, it helps a lot if its an "everything but the kitchen sink" production such as SITKOL.

I've a feeling it's also down to the original production methods used.. things like out of phase information etc can send sounds all over the shop in PLII (unintentionally but to good effect sometimes) and I suspect that's what's happening with this Stevie BDA.

it's a happy coincidence rather than something intentional. I'm thankful for such "happenstance"..! (y)

even if Universal were only to release all of Stevie Wonders' classic 70's albums as 2.0/stereo BDA's such as this (in the absence of the multitracks for genuine 5.1 remix, such as this instance where Stevie won't play ball..) if they all open up so beautifully as this, revealing so many little details when processed through something like DPLII (etc..) then I'll be more than happy with that, thank you very much :)

maybe I did it right, cause it shows two supertramps , they have my credit card info. how long did it take after you ordered for it to show on your bank statement. I was using babelfish and google to translate.

I wouldn't know without checking with my bank. What does it say on the status of your order ? Does it say preparing to ship ? ( or something similar ? )
