i'm wondering is this one gonna to be solely Sony or Razor & Tie as two previous?

I'll probably skip Trilogy, but would like Pictures At An Exhibition.

I'm the opposite, I don't give a rat's ass about PAAE. It's a live record and it wouldn't benefit from a MCH mix the way Trilogy would...come on...the first time ELP went into a studio and had 24 tracks available!!! They went INSaNE!!!
I agree with Greg Lake that it is their best LP....

Pictures is a full multi track recording ( many edits ) that would benefit from a creative mix of the bombast.
I would be more than happy to see both you guys get your way.

Come on, don't get me wrong, and I reread my post and it came over a bit too strong, my apologies to cupboy, nothing personal!!!!!
It's what I think...
But OTOH, I think that , yes, PAAE would be great in MCH, but Trilogy is way higher on the list..actually the FIRST on the list...

1) "Trilogy"
2) "Pictures at an Exhibition"
3) "Brain Salad Surgery" (Jakko mix)
4) anything and everything else…

That's my preference, but it'll probably end up like this.

1) "Brain Salad Surgery"
2) "Trilogy"
3) anything and everything else…

Just get me "Trilogy". A new BSS mix will be cool but it's not essential for me.
What I care most about in 5.1 now is YES! :)

I also would prefer Trilogy. I hope we do not have to wait another year!

My top 5: 1) Trilogy 2) BSS 3) ELP, 1st album 4) Tarkus 5) Welcome back my friends… LIVE (I saw in 1974 in Paris, see my pict) sorry if I'm not in the wake.

For 5.1 remixes, I think there is probably a problem with the Trilogy's master audiotapes.
My analysis: the 1st album and Tarkus were already released in 5.1 remix, BBS too (SACD, DVD-A) and it will coming soon (soon ?) in april 2014 in 5.1 HD, so I ask me this question: why no news about Trilogy ?
I think they lost the original audiotapes, like Steely Dan who lost original tapes of "AJA": you can find on the market "Gaucho" in 5.1 (dts, SACD, DVD-A), never "AJA"…who don't exist in 5.1 remix… and the reason is they lost some original 24 tracks audiotapes !!

But it's just my own analysis, hope it's not the real reason (see my top 5) !!

Hi rt,:)

YES are my favorite band as well, but allow me to fine tune your post.;)

What we need is the Holy Trinity in 5.1, all major works from

YES
ELP
Genesis

We have all the Genesis in 5.1 and now it looks like we are on our way to having the complete trio. Once we get all the 5.1 YES and have played it the only thing to do is to move on to listen to the ELP 5.1 then Genesis 5.1, then apply, rinse & repeat...then apply, rinse & repeat...then apply, rinse & repeat...

You have a different (musical) Trinity.

For me (at least in the world of classic prog), it's:

Genesis
King Crimson
Yes

Main reason I don't include ELP in that is simply because I feel like the quality of their work went down by a HUGE step after "Brain Salad Surgery" and never really recovered.

But because my Trinity are those 3 bands it's great for me because we ALL of the Genesis albums in surround, 8 KC records in surround (With at least 3 more on the way), and now more from the Yes catalogue too, so I'm very happy! :)

Interesting!

For me the musical trinity (in terms of classic prog) is probably:

King Crimson
Yes
ELP

if I can give you my top 7, ON STAGE, I prefer in alphabetic order… each album is different, each title is different… I love these artists, all are my favorite: ELP, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Carlos Santana, Toto, Gino Vannelli, Yes - I was lucky to see all LIVE… (sorry, no more ticket of Pink Floyd concert in Paris, during the "Animals" Tour 1977… and just a pict of Gino Vannelli and me, during recording of a never released album "Twisted Heart", in march 83 at Westlake Recording Studio, California !)

Like all of you, I am really really looking forward to hearing Trilogy in surround. I will wait patiently however long it takes. I waited for years for Close to the Edge and I may have to wait a decade for Electric Ladyland and Abbey Road.

Just a question to all of you. Greg Lake very briefly used a modified Rickenbacker 4001 bass guitar during 1972. Does anyone know it if features on any of the tracks on Trilogy?
