but I really want "Trilogy"......
Don't we all? I have a feeling we will either get it this fall (Oct/Nov) or next Spring. We will just have to see...

I just listened to ELP for the first time today(Blu Ray; Montreux) and i am very impressed! The Blu Ray isn't even great but shows how good the songs are. What should i pick up first? Bear in mind i have heard no studio material whatsoever.
After a lot of thought I have cancelled the deluxe edition I pre-ordere for only £40 and pre-ordered the 3 disc version for (after tax) £9 + postage.
The price difference was the sealer. The deluxe version has vinyl I don't play and a DVD that seems I already have as well. The booklet apparently is only 20 pages in the deluxe box. Although it is 12" x 12".
I need to be realistic with the £30 price difference. £30 is $60 AU
"And now on BBC 2 a man who really goes out on a limb with his predictions."
What is the consensus best place to buy the box set, here in the USA? I gotta have the new SW 2.0 stereo mix direct from the multi-tracks.
A few small points to clear up, Dennis.
It's not Steven Wilson's remixes but Jakko Jakszyk's remixes.
Secondly, the stereo remix is available in the 3-disc set but only on the DVD-A. I honestly think it's kind of silly that Sony chose to go with the original remastered mix as CD 1 in the 3-disc set when it's already been released a thousand times over, but alas…
I pre-ordered the set from amazon.co.uk when it was originally listed and so I'm getting the set for around $75 (with shipping), which is a very good price IMO.
Haha, I love how you can always justify your answers, Dennis.
I think the best place to get the box set right now is Burning Shed. It will be around $90 (including shipping) to ship it the US.
The amazon.co.uk price is more now than it was when I pre-ordered it, and the ELP MerchStore price is just ridiculous…
The 3-disc set (Remastered CD/Alternate Album CD/DVD-A) is much more manageable from a price perspective, however it is missing the new stereo mix on CD and the Manticore documentary DVD (plus the vinyl), so your mileage may vary…
I pre-ordered the 3 disc version. Sounds like I'm not getting:
1) the Manticore DVD
2) vinyl
3) new stereo mix on CD (but it is on the DVD-A)
Have I got this right?
Thanks PK

Hmm, $90 is a lot. How much was your pre-order(incl. shipping)?
The new 2.0 remix being just on DVD is kinda an inconvenience but not the end of the world. We could use a DVD ripper proggie to extract from the 24/96 to redbook and burn to CD. By including it on the DVD we get 24/96 which is nice. We just need to do a few extra steps to get a CD to play in the car... Adding another CD of the new mix would jack up the price, but I am with you. I have no use for a "remastered" old mix. We bought that already, many times over!
Is there a shipping date for the deluxe box? It is hard to pass up on that beautiful book and having the LP to put over the fireplace.
Why is nobody in the USA selling this yet?
@ DuncanS, your XTC comment was kinda a "slap in the face".. we are talking about ELP and the greatest music ever made, not some silly 1980's girlie music. I suppose you are also waiting for the GoGos to be done in 5.1?

I'm a die-hard ELP fan since the 70's. I also like a lot of XTC's music, especially those first couple albums, so I find your "girly music" comment a little off-base and flippant - it *is* possible to appreciate what both styles of music bring to the table you know!.
And are you aware that the keyboardists in the original XTC went on to play with one Bob Fripp in one of his oddball bands (League of Gentlemen). There's a lot more depth in much of the XTC catalogue than I think you give them credit for...really.

As I said in an earlier post, my pre-order (including shipping) is $75 (from amazon.co.uk), and it's expected to be dispatched early next week (like the 12th).
And hey, at least XTC never made an album as bad as this one…

Let's face it, when ELP were good (from the 1st album to "Brain Salad Surgery"), they were REALLY good! But when they were bad (pretty much everything else in their career except for a few songs), they were REALLY bad…
Finally, I would pay Steven Wilson to do a 5.1 remix of The Fish Slapping Dance! :ugham:
