I just watched Akira Kurosawa's original "Yojimbo" movie, which is what "A Fistfull of Dollars" is a remake of. I had no idea!!

Apparently the Sergio Leone film was held up for a time because they never got permission.

Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai" too, heard about it for years & finally got around to watching it. Great movie.

Older movies, so not in surround.

I know this is a TV series rather than a movie, plus I also mentioned it earlier (but I think it went unnoticed), so I want to say it again, because the 5.1 audio mix with this show is awesome! Check it out everyone. A total must -- I really mean it!

And I'm adding a picture this time, to see if my comment stands out more :D...

Thanks!! will check it out.

Slowly working my way through as I have time. Some of the films are 4 hours long!!

Also watched Kagemusha, which is loosely based on real historical events

I guess add Throne of Blood to that list to catch the intersection of the Mifune/Kurosawa Samurai movies. It too should seem familiar.
And yeah, Kagemusha is a powerful film.

And get ready for SEASON 2

I FINALLY watched the 'outlier' GODFATHER III CODA, the Francis Ford Coppola re~edited version of the much maligned third chapter of the Godfather Saga, which is now part of the newly released Paramount Native UHD4K box set [HDR10/Dolby Vision/Dolby True HD 5.1] and must admit I enjoyed every minute of it.

The box set also contains [in Native UHD4K] the original Theatrical presentation and Coppola's previous re~edit [which I have NOT seen] but based on this newly minted restoration, I thought it acquitted itself of its previous reputation and fit in nicely with Godfather I and II .... although it didn't quite have the gravitas of either.

Trying to achieve legitimacy by divesting himself of his former Mafia underpinnings, Michael Corleone attempts to get in bed with the Roman Catholic Church via a snarky Vatican archbishop but finds himself in a direct clash with his criminal past as former cohorts drag he and his family back in wanting a piece of the action.

Elements of Godfathers I and II are omnipresent throughout Coppola's re~edited Opus to great effect and when the action overspills into Sicily, all attempts at achieving legitmacy while protecting his family fail even involving the poisoning of the newly elected Pope Paul VI who, at Michael's request, has ordered a thorough investigation into the Vatican banking system.

Paramount Pictures has achieved a remarkable Native UHD4K restoration/remaster of the entire Godfather Saga with a picture and sound which should remain definitive for quite some time. Highest Recommendation.

Part III is the one I've never seen. It's such a great set of movies though. Wow!

Containing more plot holes than a wedge of swiss cheese, Chinese Director John Woo's HARD TARGET with Jean~Claude Van Damme newly released in Native UHD4K from Kino Lorder never disappoints. Filmed in New Orleans and the bayous of Louisiana, non stop action from first frame to last. If you're seeking logic ...there is none. But loosely based on THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME man hunting man for sport makes for an exciting 100 minute run time in what is probably Van Damme's most engaging action flick [HDR10/Dolby Vision/DTS~HD MA 5.1] BTW, the 5.1 soundtrack is amazing! Recently acquired from Kino Lorber for $15 during their sale!

A reminder: TOMORROW is the very last day of Kino Lorber's very generous BD~V/UHD4K sale [I broke down and ordered 5 more]. Films like the Native UHD4K edition of HANNIBAL for under $13, SPACEBALLS [CORNY, but an incredible Native 4K restoration], Native UHD4K remasters of THE GREAT ESCAPE, SOME LIKE IT HOT, HARD TARGET, TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY for $15 and a huge assortment of classic remastered BD~Vs, some as low as $4.99
