Agree! BTW, watched 'director' George Clooney's THE BOYS IN THE BOAT last night and thought it was absolutely SUPERB. Only available at present in 1080p! But is available in UHD4K if you buy/rent from Amazon Prime!

Watched it last night and was very impressed with this remaster prepared by SONY Pictures. The excellent cast included Kevin Bacon, Elizabeth Shue, Josh Brolin and Kim Dickens. Picture and surround immersion were stunning as was the CGI which still dazzles!

Always one for schlock B movies and never being able to resist a 'bargain,' I took the proverbial chance and purchased the 2023 Steelbook edition of FOG CITY from AmazonUS for the unbeatable price of $11.99 [currently being sold on ebay for as much as $75]!!!!! The steelbook is one of the most impressive of its kind with a nifty embossed cover and a lucite dust cover which contains as part of the package an extremely high quality magnet and a post card replica of the movie poster.

So how bad could it be.......B A D! Released in Native UHD4K with NO HDR/Dolby Vision and a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack which I do have to admit sounds FANTASTIC and IMMERSIVE, the 4K image is really no better than the 1080p BD which is included!

The entire story takes place in a Cape Cod Massachusetts house belonging to a relative of one of the 'victims' and includes a mysterious sepia toned fog which everyone thinks emanates from a local chemical plant owned by one of the party reveler's father.

The dialogue is pure psychobabble, the acting wooden and the plot only thickens when a massive blood bath ensues perpetrated by an unlikely antagonist.

So to counteract this assault on my senses, I also opted to watch the excellent 1981 biography PRIEST OF LOVE on Amazon Prime with Sir Ian McKellen taking on the role of prolific writer D.H. Lawrence outlining his trials and tribulations of being heavily censored in his native country of England and even the United States, his battle with tuberculosis and the authorship of his final tome, Lady Chatterly's Lover, which met with equal derision and a book burning campaign in his native England! The cast also includes an exquisite Janet Suzman as his German wife and
Frankie Sinatra's ex~squeeze, Ava Gardner, in one of her final roles.

Interesting flick. I remember it being not very good but looking like a million bucks with a distinctive visual style. FFC has said in interviews that after this movie and up until Dracula, everything he did was to pay off the $20 million or so it cost!

Actually, Pete, it was IMO somewhat of a major DUD and did bankrupt Coppola's American Zoetrope Studios! He insisted on building VEGAS on soundstages and were it not for the excellent music of Tom Waits and Crystal Gayle [which I have on CD] I thought it was a bit intolerable.

Although I will admit, that Coppola's recent restoration of THE COTTON CLUB which he re~edited and had previously received similar BAD reviews, I did enjoy his redux version much more! But it's only available on 1080p ...... but looks and sounds marvelous!
