Every once in awhile, you come across a film which has no prior accolades or 'buzz' and it just BLOWS YOU AWAY. One such film is this 2018 film from director Albert Hughes from SONY which boasts absolutely stunning cinematography, an immersive/discrete DTS~HD MA 5.1 soundtrack with music by the acclaimed Michael Stearns and a brilliant performance from Kodi Smit~McPhee and a hybrid wolf~dog named "Chuck!"

I watched it first on FIOS cable and now having purchased this stunning BD~V which also includes an extended Director's cut and a nice array of bonus features, I can highly recommend it as one of my very fav films in recent years:

And the price is right for a 'blind buy!'

I know this is old, but I've been watching this ridiculously and sometimes annoying (Tara) series (no need to go past season three) but am very impressed with the surround sound quality it brings. A lot of the stories take place in the woods and there are all kinds of woodland sounds going on around you, with birds flying across the room, and insects chirping behind you and rustling bushes over there. Then there are the whooshing sounds of vamps disappearing and appearing. Since the title of this thread concerns surround sound in films, I thought I'd mention it. A very active soundscape.

Luca Guadagnino's 2022 "CHOMP FEST" BONES AND ALL was an unexpected experience which I watched last night via streaming. Had heard little about it and spent the better part of 2 hours 'ingesting' it's gore and bizarro love story. With a stellar cast and exquisite cinematography, Guadagnino who gave the world CALL ME BY YOUR NAME AND more recently CHALLENGERS has afforded us an off the wall treatise on cannibalism and lust so you can adequately decide for yourselves if the journey is worth the fuss

Bones and All

Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell

I found this BR version of a classic they combine both films onto one disk in chronological order with deleted scenes back in that add alot to both films. The version may be old news to some of you. https://showtownapparel.com/

As we Americans are embroiled in a divisive election cycle, British filmmaker Alex Garland has upped the ante by giving the world CIVIL WAR....ostensibly a film about 4 reporter/photographers who roam the world seeking topical stories and photographs exploring the inanities of War/conflict hoping to make a difference, even at the risk of their own lives!

America is divided ... at war with itself. The FBI as an institution has been dissolved. California, Texas and even Florida have seceded from the Union and have made Washington D.C. and the President a target of their grievances against what they term a Fascist regime! Enroute on a perilous journey from New York to D.C., our protagonist journalists encounter chaos, death and destruction at every marker of their trip. While it's difficult to ascertain who the good/bad guys are they randomly shoot both factions through the lens of their cameras attempting to make sense of the ensuing conflict.

Former Politically INCORRECT comic Bill Maher HATED Civil War but at Roger Ebert.com a more balanced review [???]:

I enjoyed it and like the reporter/photographer aspect a lot.
Hopefully Alex Garland does not receive the treatment fellow Brit Peter Watkins received after his film Punishment Park debuted in the USA....
