I just don't understand why I don't get the currency translation at Amazon.....I ALWAYS used to get an immediate currency translator...so I knew what I was getting ready to spend. No matter what I do now (no matter which card I use), it tells me it's "not available".

You didn't get it on amazon uk this time because it was a pre order...try it again on something that is in stock and you should get it then...

It will work on preorders but not so far out from release. Order it now in GBP then check back each week. You should be able to order in your preferred currency in the last week. If it works out better you can cancel the first order.

Holy crap! The next two months are going to be expensive! I'm incredibly psyched for this. While I do feel for the folks who would only want the 5.1 and don't want to shell out the big bucks to get it (I'm in that boat for the Velvet Underground Loaded box,) this one is a no-brainer for me. Tusk is my favorite Mac album. Plus, I have tons of bootlegs from the '79/'80 tour and they were on fire in these shows so I'm more than happy to get 2 CDs worth of live material.

The one surprising omission here is the lack of any video. There was a tour documentary that was one of the earliest music home video releases. It was only ever available on VHS (and perhaps Laserdisc/Beta?) Would have been nice to have that in the set.

It'll be very interesting to hear a mix in REAL Hi Rez, cause the LP was one of the early "Soundstream" 44/16 Digital mixes, which curiously enough translated VERY well to vinyl (I have TWO copies of it..one was an "unwanted child" with only the inside sleeves, and I bought another copy in Philly in 1982/3 in the cutout section for $1.99)... it doesn't suffer from the "darkness" of early digital mixes ...maybe cause it was recorded in analog...(the waveform spectrum goes way higher than 20K; but then, my stylus is VERY bright!!)...

No. The dead giveaway is that throughout it, Lindsey is clean shaven and his hair is short. He didn't do that until after Rumours. Plus, the footage of them in the studio shows them recording Tusk songs. Here's on piece of it:

Some precisions: only the drums were recorded in digital (probably because of the Rumours mixing problems) on the Soundstream machine (which was 16bit/50kHz). The rest was recorded analog and everything was mixed analog. You don't see a 20kHz cut-off on the excellent Hi-Res download either.

This footage is brilliant. I've known about it but never seen it. Too bad it's on MCA Discovision, a total "laser rot" label.

Ugh...I wish you hadn't mentioned that...I lost most of my Laser Disc collection due to the "rot":howl

I finally succumbed and ordered this from Amazon UK. Totally blown my revised 2015 budget now (but planning to sell it as a 7 disc box set - minus the DVD).

(My 'accountant' suggested I delay purchase until the 2016 budget, but I'd hate to miss Tusk in surround)

Amazon UK just charge a standard 3.58GBP for first disc even if it's a box set. In the past they have almost always sent big box sets via courier or expedited mail and often arrive within a week.

Amazon CA want to charge around $25 to ship a single disc to MEL. Elusive disc are similar....

As a comparison, they only charge me $4.76 to ship the box set to the US(Florida)...over 4,000 miles...and despite the problems I have had with amazon(s)...the packaging is always very good...never had a problem in that area...

I went directly to ebay earlier today after seeing that Tusk era video from laser disc. Found it for a not bad price and clicked "buy now". I do laser drops just like needle drops, and this will be all good no worries. Maybe a few snow spects, and not completely rotten. Tell me it will work out fine.
