The really bad ones in the Discovision series were packaged in a foam lined carton type box. The one I just bought has the later regular cover. We'll see. If it has a few specks here and there, I'm fine with it. If the picture and or sound are total snow I will ask for 50% refund. And it was cheap enough.

It'll be my Tusk deluxe edition bonus disc.

The story I remember from many decades ago was that Japanese pressings tended to be good while the plant in Carson, California didn't even have a clean room. There was a fuss amongst the nerds when it was announced that "Star Wars" would be pressed in Carson, but apparently they--quite literally--cleaned up their act in preparation for it.

All this talk of DiscoVision (I only have one in amongst my 100's of LaserDiscs).. I miss Disclord :(

Edit: You could probably all guess which one it was..

Question for those that are FM fans, what did you guys think of the "Say You Will" DVDA that came out back in 2003.
I remember when I got it back then being really disappointed with this release. Now I know why, I had purchased so many of the really good sounding Dvda's(FM Rumours,Queen-ANATO,Steely Dan-Goucho,Eagles-HC,etc) that when I got this one feeling a major let dow so the disk sat on the shelf. To me the mix was lacking and the mastering/recording done is also not up to par with older Mac and the song writing although good was not up to all A+ songs as there are some filler songs on this one and i think they missed Christie Mcvie as she adds alot to Mac as well.
Last week I made this my go to listen in the car and I have a better appreciation for this one now.
Some of the songs are right up there with their classics so on that front its a good listen, just skip the songs that aren't as good.
Its to bad the mix/mastering was not done by a Elliot Scheiner or original producer of the classic Rumours(Ken Calliat) as then this would have been a way better sounding disc.
As it is I think its a good listen, not a great one but still enjoyable.
What do others think of this one?

Also based on Rumours I have high hopes for Tusk sounding good as Ken Calliat definitely did a really nice job on Rumours.

I too decided to revisit Say You Will recently...it's an up and down album with the content...sound quality is also a mixed bag...in fact I have been listening to Fleetwood Mac "related" music a lot lately...I had forgotten how good Tango In The Night was(the CD)...and right now I'm listening to Christine McVie's self titled album...this one and despite some very bad DR numbers it's sounds very good...doesn't sound compressed....great songs..especially for me as I prefer Christine over Stevie for vocals...

That's a really nice performance, too. I bought that from a shop that would let you rent or buy...I don't think they understood that it was already a rare disc by the time I stumbled across it.

Sadly, it sounded better on the old tube players but is REALLY noisy on the later solid state ones. I'd like to digitize the audio, but not with all the crackling that's in it on my current players.

My preorder from amazon.uk is looking better today as they just dropped it by 4 pounds(44.99) so 37.49 minus the vat plus shipping.

peter

They didn't drop mine, so I reordered, then cancelled the first order.

No harm, but you didn't need to do that. With pre-order price protection you always get the lowest price from Amazon between when you order and when it ships. They would have refunded you the difference.

For what it's worth my Beatles 1+ [CD/2 Blu-ray Audio][Limited Edition] was pre-ordered at 59.98 and dropped to 48.99 when it shipped a savings of 10.99 so it could get better (y).

the Fleetwood mac tusk deluxe is currently $101 in US dollars on amazon Us, but I ordered it from amazon uk, the price is only 24.99 in pounds , which is a lot cheaper even with shipping

Sorry to go OT (again) guys.. but please indulge me for just one second, its not everyday this stuff like LaserDiscs from 1978 get mentioned anywhere.. there is an excellent copy of the BBC Radio Clyde FM broadcast of the whole Edinburgh Playhouse 76 show.. you can PM me anytime.. or the whole thing is up on You Tube for your delectation.. a stunning solo gig at the tail end of his peak years which absolutely should have been officially released in video and audio form by now.. when he dedicates a new song to "Catherine" in the audience (a young blind girl it turns out who made it all the way to hear him play in Scotland) and goes into Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, which nobody had heard at that point, the hairs go up on the back of your neck.. mesmerising performance.

All this talk made me record the LD in my Mac, and side one is "Crackly" , but side 2 is FINE...I used Click Repair on side one, and the songs, at least, sound fairly good...
Is it the next one that has Stevie singing "Sisters of the Moon"?
