Looks like most SACD boxes are delayed in the states til 12/23 now. Shrug, long as I get them....!

The same thing is showing for my order from Amazon.ca as well, pu order in on August 18th. Wonder why as see people getting their orders from Europe & Japan already. Guess the 4 year wait from when first seeing that they were working on these titles will have to wait a few more months(Deep sigh......)

Sitting in New York and I think I will need to step down to the North American dts release instead of picking up the SACD's from Japan.

My order from HMV is ready to ship but they raised the shipping price and yen to USD conversion has pushed the set to over $225 USD. I can get the dts set for $100 less.

Can somebody make me fell better and tell me the difference between the SACD and DTS discs isn't that bad? :(:(:(:(:(

Uhmm...I have the Denon DVD-1400 universal player which infamously converts any DSD signal to PCM.

Maybe that is why the dts sounds better to me? The SACDs have a slightly metallic sound on the lead vocal, which I don't hear on the dts...

It gets worse; Elusive Disc's email just now included this next to SACD/DVD NTSC:

Unfortunately, this item has been delayed with no definitive release date.(Bummer!) We will update the status of this item as soon as the information becomes available.

I'll probably go with the US box and then off it later when the SACD box becomes available. I could've waited a month, but difficult to handle unknown at all. They had all summer to figure this out! Dammit Janet.......

Ah hell, my SACD/DVD box is scheduled for delivery from Amazon.com tomorrow. Although it is an import, the information specifically stated NTSC format. So help me god, if it's PAL format I'm gonna scream!

I was able to order an SACD/DVD box set today from Amazon UK here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Genesis-1970-1975-6dvd/dp/B00104WHLA

for 95 pounds. When I checked out, the price became 81 pounds ($133). I hope they aren't substituting the DTS version...

International orders are GST exempt (sales tax), that's the discount you got.

As far NTSC vs PAL, why does anybody care anymore? Most dvd players convert back and forth and HD tvs will play both. A few years ago it was a big deal, but now I would think that the PAL/SACD set would be better - cheaper and higher resolution (PAL is 525 lines vs 480 for NTSC).

I haven't bought any of these boxes yet, but this one has me tempted. I'll be keeping an eye on the reviews...

Well amazon.ca changed my pre order to the non sacd version and shipped it.

My amazon.ca order for the SACD box was shipped Nov. 7th and my credit card was charged $110.00 U.S.

For $110 I am betting you got the CD/DVD set.

I would bet that as well since the SACD box is not available there yet. I had a SACD pre-order in there for $94. Then they cancelled it saying that they did't have it in stock and offered to send the CD\DVD set instead. I said no. However, unless this set is head and shoulders above the first 2 boxes, the DTS 96/24 is likely good enough if your system can decode it that way.

The reason I care is simple: my player does not play PAL format discs and I don't want to buy a different player.

I was charged $110 by Amazon for the Genesis box as well. And all indications are that it is the SACD version.

Cai, I hope you get the Sacd but I would also highly doubt it as all import orders in North America appear to be waiting till end of December. I'm not sure why I am being so stubborn as I am still holding out for the sacd/ntsc set as probably the cd/dts version would be good enough. In principle Sacd should sound better than Dts and thats why I'm holding out.
A friend of mine has ordered the Rhino version so I might be able to get a sneak preview on his set to tide me over.

I have opposite problem of yours as far as Pal. My dvd player plays it but my 6 year old rear projection tv does not like Pal.
This whole ordering the boxset from Amazon has been a real mess.

I'm hoping the whole "SACD delayed until December 23rd" thing is simply a production run issue. Is it possible they simply sold out of the first pressing and are ramping up for a second?

I'll find out soon enough; I'm sitting here tapping my fingers waiting for the UPS driver...
