Here it is: the JCQS-440 A.F.V. also known as the Wurlyscope.

Yes!👌🎆🎆🎆

I'm making the mk-III alongside the mk-II. The mk-III will have almost all the same display modes and options as the mk-II except ch 5,6,7 & 8 are always in "Matrix" mode. This model will use about half the electronic components necessary for the mk-II, not counting the leds of course. It will have only one main 2-layers pcb instead of one main 4-layers and one control 2-layers pcb which is a lot more expensive.
Both models uses the same amplifier and comparator modules.

Ahoy! here is mk-III ! :SB

note: ⏪ Matrix modes is explained in an earlier post i did today.
when did you say my MK-III will be shipping out? 😁

Thank you all for your interest, i really appreciate it. :)
I take note of your interest toward mk-II and mk-III.
For now i will have about 10 mk-II and 10 mk-III for spring.
I would like to show you the prototypes completed and showcase each model's performances and unique functions.
This will allow you to make a better choice.
;)

Looks great Wurlymaster. So were people not liking the plexiglass front or was it something else? Obviously this version has more knobs and such because of the extra channels and modes. But call me crazy, I really like the way the mk1 looks. I think that the combination of the plexiglass with the silver colored panel and the black outer case makes it stand out from regular old audio gear. Almost like a Rolex in a world full of Timex’s.

I know that ‘I should’ know, but was the mk1 faceplate just plexiglass with an imprinted graphic on front? I guess I could just look at mine for the answer, but it is a lot more fun to bug you :). Also, I might have missed it, but are you going to change up the outer case now that the faceplate is all black? It would be cool if you have an option for something like a holographic acrylic case. Just don’t drop it!

Thank you for the comparison! :p

The mk-I will remain a classic of course but...
No there wasn't any real complaints about the all plexiglass front, it's just me because i found it more difficult to work with.
It can easily crack when drilling holes in it. The outer case will be similar: same lenght and height but greater width.
The mk-II and mk-III have more buttons because of new functions not necessary related to the additional channels.

I’ll give you my Wurlyscope mk1 when you pry it from my cold, dead hands. And that’s not a threat, it’s a promise 😀.

Here's a little video that won't tell you much except...
It confirm my two modules are behaving exactly the way i intended.
This test was very important because these modules are where the magic happen!
It's a "GO" for the mk-II and mk-III !!!

Today i ordered the pcbs to build the first 5 mk-II units.
Each pcb type will have a dedicated colour.
Blue for the inputs board.
White for the amplifier modules.
Violet for the comparators modules.
Black for the main screen and control boards
Red was for testing

HI all!
I spent the last 2 days doing parts inventory and calculating the requires quantity of each and every parts necessary to build 10 mk-II and 10 mk-III.
The total count is jaw dropping! 😯😯😯

Great! Maybe you could do a gold plated Limited Edition? A limited edition of an already limited edition product. You could call it “Limited Edition X2” or something?

Okay so here are the results of my inventory calculations.
The parts count for the first 20 units is over 30000 electronic parts! :SB
The cabinet and all fittings not included.
Yesterday and this morning i ordered some 15740 parts to begin with.

Oh and i calculated the final price for each model:

JCQS-440 mk-II will be 540$ (US$)

JCQS-440 mk-III will be 400$ (US$)

The new and improved mk-III is less expensive than the mk-II? Reverse inflation?

Edit: I guess something can not be both new and improved..

Yes they are both new and improved! :phones

The mk-II is the most innovative with 8.1 discrete channels.
The mk-III is more like a mk-I on steroïds with 4.1 channels + 4 matrix channels.
