Can you guess what I am thinking about and share your thoughts and suggestions?

There are two very important albums from my early history that I was originally involved in. One by an amazing band. The other by an eclectic solo artist.

Without multitracks being available, I have personally been able to create incredible new surround and spatial versions from existing stereo master and rough mix material, using my own techniques and expertise to not just rebalance and reposition, but to use my post-production and mixing ideas to make it all really work in these formats.

So the remaining issue is whether anyone can be convinced to actually find a way to make these available. For me it is not about just trying to make money. I hardly benefit from such things as I am never on points.

It is just that I feel so passionate about some projects that really should be made available to be shared and appreciated by everyone, and who knows how long I have left working in this wonderful world of music and audio!!!

Part of what I am trying to push here is the memory of incredible music and works from dear friends who have sadly departed. SWTxxx

Hmmm. I can think of a couple of bands whose music I’d love to hear all around, although I have no idea if any source material is available. If you can find work by Sky and/or Spyro Gyra, those seem like they would be just so effing groovy!

I'll just leave these here, in memory of Tommy Bolin's younger brother Johnnie, who passed away last month after keeping Tommy's music & memory alive for nearly half a century.

Private Eyes was released 48 years ago.
Second photo below was taken outside Trident Studios.

I'd be so happy if Gentle Giant approaches Mr Tayler with the stereo master of In A Glass House to create a 5.1 mix. 🤩

Good idea - but that is not my role. I create the content. I need to find people who can make this stuff happen.
It sounds like you are asking about bringing product to market. Three obvious surround friendly options are Rhino, Dutton, and Audio Fidelity. Foraging Rhino is a member here, so a simple PM would be a way to start a conversation.

If you have this ability, and such projects come to fruition, we should come up with a new term to describe your process other than upmix as the term upmix has such a negative connotation in the industry. Stereo Master To Multichannel Reconstruction maybe?
Yes what I refer to has nothing to do with upmixing - that is simply putting the existing stereo file through an upmix plugin that does things for you. I use de-mixing tech to pull the material apart - and that in itself is not really AI as some people like to call it - you still make many decisions about how that progresses, and then you can not just line up the parts and reposition them - you have full control and editing possibilities, control of equalisation, compression, noise control, effects etc. - so it is absolutely all about mixing, not just remastering.
