Hoo boy, what a deal you got! power cards are a dime dozen. You should never toss one out if it's not connected to the device. draw a configuration and I'll see if I have it, if no ground, you can still use a gounded cord if it fits.

Here is a pic of it. Sorry, blurry cell pic

That appears to be the same connector that my B&K preamp and amps use, as well as my Teac reel and iMac. The only difference is that the Yamaha appears to have no ground pin. Still, the same cable/connector should work. Any hardware, electrical or electronic supply should have that.

It is called a 16AWG universal ac power cord.

Well, it works! Found a cord without the ground pin at a thrift store I knew had a good power cord grave yard. One dollar. I just ordered a remote for it off ebay for $15. More than I spent on it!

my latest piece of gear is the Aphex made Proton SD-1000 6 channel Dolby Surround decoder. I got it with the remote too, which is rare and the unit is totally useless without the remote - it even lets you adjust the amount of logic enhancement. And its stereo enhance mode is a 270 degree mode which makes many CD's sound like true quad.

I have been a little busy recently and been adding 8-track stuff to the system (my new(ish) TEAC 80-8 and Fostex R80), as well as various other 8-track stuff (including the 8-4-2 Tascam M208 mixing console - which has great quad potential). I have upgraded my Amps from the lovely but unreliable Leak Delta 70s to Technics SE-9060s and added in the matching preamps (SU-9070) and the mind-numbingly-ridiculous equalisers (SH-9010). An interesting speaker up-grade is on the way too (not sure but some Wharfedales are involved somewhere).

Have you asked the guys at Touchsquid (http://touchsquid.org/) if they can build it into their ap for ir-enabled tablets & phones? There ap turns any ir-enabled tablet or phone into a programable remote. They had the codes for the Yamaha DSL-1 and answer service requests very quickly (usually in minutes). It saved me tons of cash for the remote for that.

My latest piece of equipment is a Sony STR-DA2ES AV receiver to replace my old Sony STR-DE935 AV receiver. The 935 stills works fine. However, it lacks things that I felt I needed for an upgrade. The DA2ES has banana plug terminals for 6 of the 6.1 speakers, 2 multi-channel inputs (5.1 and 6.1, I use the 5.1 inputs for quad) and assignable digital audio inputs to name a few. My 935 has only banana plugs terminals for the front left and right channels. The other speakers have spring clip terminals( which I hate).

The 935 will not be wasted as I will be using it in my bedroom.

Sadly, my Akai 1800-ss died the death of a 1000 caps but Mr Reel-to-Reel man did an excellent part exchange on a seriously mint Teac A-3440 ( :) )! It does mean that I am now limited to 7 1/2 & 15 ips recordings but, that should be a problem, really. Now all I need is a Q8 player/recorder and I will be back to where I was before the demise of the Akai ( :( ).

After some searching and deft bidding I now own two quad 8-track players - a Sharp RT-814E and the sought after Akai CR-80-DSS. I have the sharp working, after the usual goo-mess of a drive belt had let most of my house covered with little black smudges. It works surprisingly well. Sadly, the same can't be said of my one quad tape (a copy of "Hair"). I think that it needs some tlc. Tubular bells (in stereo) plays well, though. I will pick up the Akai at some point during the weekend and put up some thoughts after that.

Yes i have added a new piece A Qrx-999 Not sure how to use all the functions tho. Could you tell me how to use the separation properly. I know it works but not sure how.

I have just had to replace my Sony SQA200 with another one today. I am looking at the Sony SQD2020, which seems to have some good reviews. Is it as good as reported? I can't afford Tate IIs, etc., but have been looking at the Surround Master SQ. I have seen the Sony for less but the reviews for the SM are very good. Any ideas?

I have a SQD-2020 and love it. Acording to what I have read the SQD-2020 tests just under the Tate. You will not be disappointed.

Get the Surround Master SQ Edition.

As good or better than a Tate for SQ and a QSD-1 for QS.

I agree I have had the 2020 it was good in the 70s
But the Surround Master is as good as you will ever get
I know that the Sony Decoders look very good
But as a old Quad Collector
If you want to here the best separation
In SQ and QS
GET THE SURROUND MASTER
