My friend bought the album and we spent many enhanced hours listening to it. I also picked up the original gatefold album and still have it.
The second collaboration Evening Star is nice but never grabbed me like this one.

Mr Big THE BIG FINISH LIVE [Evosound/2 MQA encoded CDs] Recorded live at Budokan, Japan on July 26, 2023. Raucous and thrilling!

Will probably spring for the 4K blu~ray with the Dolby ATMOS soundtrack when it becomes available!

Ok the Legend of Paul Revere and the Raiders
Both discs.
A lot of songs.
Just wanted their singles that I knew expected not to like all of this.
Did like some early instrumentals several not released before, songs and late period stuff Including Indian Reservation when they tried to get heavier and save their career.

Is this collection better than the later Essential Paul Revere another 2cd set with far fewer songs?
I don't know. But the sound is good and I have the singles I like. I look at this set as a library where I can pull out the ten or so songs I like to hear.
There is a place in my heart for bubble gum pop....

And now for something different.
John Coltrane Live In Japan
Disc 3 of 4.
Originally taped for a radio broadcast in Japan in 1966. In good old mono but does spread out with a decoder.

It's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison, Jefe. The Legend Of Paul Revere is a 1990 release that was produced at a time when all of the labels were actively searching their vaults for stereo versions of their classic hit recordings in order to pump them out onto click-pop-scratch-free CDs. If no stereo master existed and the label thought the project made potential P&L sense, they would sometimes go back to the multi-tracks if they were available and let the mastering engineer remix the music into stereo. That is what you get here. Mark Wilder remixed around twenty tracks from the multi's for this collection. Are they the authentic AM radio hit versions? By there very nature as being a remix into stereo, of course not. Are they good? For the most part, I think he succeeds, but at the end of the day, there is no denying that they are "different." Am I glad I have a copy? You bet.

I didn't bother with the Essential Paul Revere, since it appears to be a whittled down version of Bob Irwin's Collectors' Choice Music, 2010, 3-disc set "The Complete Columbia Singles." It's a nearly all mono affair and the sound quality is very much akin to his Sundazed Paul Revere discs. It does however deliver every A & B side of their entire Columbia Records 45 output. This set is most likely overkill for your level of fan interest. If all you really want are those "...ten or so songs" that you really like, then you can't go wrong with the Sony Legacy, Paul Revere & The Raiders Greatest Hits from 2000. It's mastered by Vic Anesini and for the most part, it presents the hits just as you remember them.

And, if you still want to dig a bit deeper, then Steve Stanley at his Now Sounds label has also been dabbling with the Paul Revere catalog. His releases are exhaustively researched and meticulously remastered and they sound fantastic. However, there is no hits collection...yet. Perhaps, someday?
