I was gonna suggest Warner do the same with the Flaming Lips surround catalogue, but I checked and the 20th anniversary of Yoshimi happened in July!

Either way, that page says they’re going to make new lines of merch based on each album and remastering music videos. If at the end of this campaign they put out the full version of Stop Making Sense on Vinyl I wouldn’t complain :p

Man, visiting this thread on Fridays is like Christmas each week... you never know what's going to turn up under the tree! For me, it's right up there with visiting record stores pre-internet when you were often surprised with a new release by a favorite band. :)

Listening to some Talking Heads last night (Tidal) there were some huge volume differences between tracks on same album (Little Creatures in particular). Anyone find same on Apple?
Only listened to '77 and Fear of Music so far--no issues there. I'll keep my ears open for it with the others, though.

I that a first for you on Tidal? I haven't noticed that ever.

Haven't checked Talking Heads yet but it's commonplace on Tidal for me, unfortunately.

Same with Suede's new album, first track was two or three times louder than the rest. I think it's the DialNorm setting iirc, only reencoding the files got rid of that for me but that discussion is off limits probably.

Only three preview tracks right now. Not sure if it’s a proper surround mix.
Nice to see Suede here!

I gave the album a couple of listens today, one of which was in surround.
Definitely a discrete mix, not very adventurous though (speaking of the 5.1 bed only).
Somewhat fitting, considering the interview with Brett over at SDE and his complete disinterest in surround sound and production values in general.

As @fredblue said, it's probably appropriate for the material but by the same token I feel I'm not losing much listening to the CD. Maybe I'll feel differently once I finally get height speakers 😅

Also, can I just say I really love The Only Way I Can Love You.
Sort of Suede-by-numbers but nobody does that kind of song better!

The ‘Speaking In Tongues’ is off the radar… So good! We’re talking Kraftwerk level!
😎

How's the mix, typical Atmos Jazz stuff or more better?
You've probably heard for yourself by now, Pup, but I'd say much better. IMO the Verve mixers are being much more aggressive with the rears, at least, than the Blue Note mixers are--with both new titles and catalog material. This one has a simple but effective 5.1 mix: vocals, bass & drums across the fronts, piano in stereo in the rears.
