Three new arrivals in the Electronic section. Very excited to hear the mix on the Floating Points/Pharaoh Sanders/LSO one, that’s a fav from a few years back

Day late and a dollar short on the live concert last night at Hollywood Bowl, but good read from Billboard about the making of the album.

...tomorrow (Sept. 20), almost a year to the day after Sanders’ passing, Shepherd will perform the first and likely only live performance of Promises at the Hollywood Bowl...

A friend in a discord chat was there and had a good time. Here’s hoping they recorded/will release the performance

The music is nothing alike is my point.
Pretty sure @PurpleMoustache posted that quote from American Psycho for humorous effect. In that book and movie, the serial-murdering psychopathic narrator goes into several different monologues extolling the virtues of various pop music artists, exposing a very superficial level of musical taste and understanding. His comparison of Huey Lewis to Elvis Costello is meant as a giveaway of his lack of depth and his fixation on commercial success as a measure of worth. It's basically a very dark and extreme satire on 80s yuppie values.

Okay, that's my critical analysis. Ready to hear others. Although we may be heading off-topic here...

Okay: this is a total delight (even though I think the stereo mix is better).

To get the full experience, you'll probably want the YouTube video (hey @steelydave: check out Christian McBride's t-shirt):

Although even that'll mean more to you if you all read Nate Chinen's gloss, which will help you understand what's really going on:

Man, I've been appreciating Norah Jones's artistry and ethic more and more, starting with all the amazing stuff she began putting online during the pandemic.
