Jordan/Gilmore. A fantastic jazz SACD!

Caught Gilmore live twice. Once with Sun Ra's band, including Herman "Sonny" Blount He co-led this band along w/Blount and Marshall Allen. When Sonny passed, Gilmore took the reigns. Caught that lineup live, as well.

This SACD is more like the sound of the players featured here. It's certainly not some of the Sun Ra's more obtuse records. Fidelity is good for its' time: HIGH FIDELITY mono.

You NEED it!

Bill Evans/Shelly Manne - Empathy

Pianos often sound crappy, not here. Clear and undistorted.
Shelly Manne and Monty Budwig also given plenty of chance to show their stuff.
The AP Verve SACDs haven’t disappointed me yet.

Eagles - One of These Nights

Good album.
Like the previous 3 albums I expected to recognize a song or two beyond the three singles, but not this time.
Sound is generally pretty good, Lyin Eyes in particular sounds amazing, but sadly the title track sticks out like a sore thumb, it’s a muffled mess.

Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow

Everybody knows the hits but there’s a lot of other great tunes buried here.
Sure, the sound is late ‘66, kinda rough.
Despite that there’s still a depth (maybe the mono, which in this case I prefer, helps?) that draws you in.
