Zaireeka in Octophonic is all I've found so far...

But I'm working on making an Octophonic mix of the 5.1 Sailing to Philadelphia by Mark Knopfler.

TOTO IV M/C SACD.

I hated this when I had a DTS rip of it years ago (so much so I didn't bother buying the SACD when it was still easy to get cheap!) it seemed aneamic, digital, harsh, brittle and the mix was a bit "meh" and sadly lacking.. but I've upgraded my AVR and SACD player a couple of times since then.. and now.. oh yeah, that's the good stuff!

Time for another Stella Artois Cidre? I think so! :p

..Cranking this up in Pure Direct mode makes a world of difference.. better DACs for SACD in my BDP help (I think?) but the biggest difference is in ditching my room EQ, it cuts the bass and boosts the treble too much for music.. but its great for movies, Skyfall last night it was like a tube train really was bursting through the wall - WHAMMO! - and if I hadn't had room EQ on I think I'd have blown the speakers up or the room apart!! :yikes

Elton John (M/C SACD).

The first Gus Dudgeon produced album and my least played of the classic Elton SACDs.. another that's vastly improved going via Pure Direct (bass is almost as magnificent as I remembered on my old DJM W.German CD), the surround mix is superb and there's so many beautiful songs on here. It's easy to forget this was his first real album with a 'proper' producer, its so accomplished and cohesive a set of songs and performances.

You know, it's interesting revisiting discs you've had for nigh-on 10 years and enjoying them so much more once you've upgraded your kit.

Right! Time for Tumbleweed Connection (that always sounded amazing.. can you improve on amazing..!?) :p

Stanknonia - Outkast (DVD-A).

Not as discrete but not as bad a mix as I was expecting/dreading! At least its something "different" in surround!

some very cool front to back panning effects (the D.F. interlude/track 7*, for example).. fun mix, a bit wacky as befits the music.

(* its track 7 on the disc.. but track 8 in the track listing on the rear inlay art.. go mutha-figure..!)

I'm no prude but oh my the FOUL LANGUAGE..!! Woah!! Good job there ain't no muthafriggin' chillun round here to pollute their ears with this dope shit..!!! :yikes

I had to eject Outkast! It's been Kast Out! just too much profanity for me!

Aqualung - JT (Blu-ray).

Gorgeous mix and sound.. SW performed miracles on this one!

how's the surround mix on this one Rob?

I think I've only ever played this all the way through a couple of times before, Adam. I bought it very early on when starting to collect SACD, because Joseph Williams ( Toto ) sings on two tracks.....i'm not overly into Jazz.
Not much going on in the rears.....more aware of clapping from the audience in rears, and just reverb. If you like this type of music, it's not too bad. I've heard worse mixes from studio recordings, than this live SACD.

thanks mr :) think it'll have to stay on my wishlist til I find it cheap someday (fat chance with these Japanese Sony/SMEJ SACDs, I know!).

I wouldn't pay too much for it ! ( I'm on the last track....had my fill of "brass" today ! ) JW's vocals aren't great on this.

REM - Around The Sun.

In all the years I've collected music, never bought one of their albums, but really enjoying this ! ( I like the mellow side of REM )

Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick. Another awesome job by SW. Real shame about those other mixes he did for Tull being on permanent hiatus. :(

Discovery - Daft Punk.

Best Octophonic I've found. Way better than the others I mixed.
