No dear, it would just depress me.. I've already been on the verge of tears sat at home tonight staring into space just thinking about Bowie, playing him would not be a good move :(

Adam, my dearest, Death IS a celebration of life. I have been playing his music for the past three days and sure my eyes swell up but they're happy tears........relieved that he's no longer suffering!

Simple Minds - Once Upon A Time HFPA 5.1

Can't get enough of this one! Anyone who can sit still while the 5.1 of Ghost Dancing is playing doesn't have a musical bone in their body

Yes I have those Bowie SACDs, won't be playing them anytime soon tho (number of reasons but mainly his death, too painful.

..and I hear Alan Rickman just died of cancer too, also aged just 69.. bloody hell.. :(

Adam, ALL the more reason to spin those Bowie Discs.......they're fabulous and celebrate his life admirably. Let's Dance, 'China Boy'.......

Tragic about Alan Rickman as well. And the classical community also lost premiere conductor extraordinaire Pierre Boulez last week but at least he lived to the ripe old age of 90![/QUOTE]
Alan Rickman was great in Die Hard. Since he is mentioned here I will submit a little trivia. In that movie which takes place on Christmas Eve His character's name is the same as the composer for Silent Night. I think the writers for that movie were having a little fun.

Borrowing the Allman Brothers Band 1971 Fillmore East Recordings Blu-Ray set from Tim (timbre4) and currently listening to selections from the 2nd March 12th show on Disc 1. (I played the First March 12th show a few days ago)

My overall impression of these Blu-Ray Audio discs so far is that the fidelity is amazing, the content is so-so, and the surround mix is lacking, which in this instance is actually OK since it's a live show, and the mix at least does a good enough job of simulating the live concert feel.
Based on listening to this Blu-Ray set (so far) along with the "Idlewild South" Blu-Ray and the "Eat a Peach" SACD, I think the Allman Brothers Band were at their best when they were at their most concise, but if you're a jam band kinda guy, this set might be just your cup of tea! :)

If they can get the ABB's "Jessica" out with the rest of "Brothers and Sisters" in 5.1 and then EJ's "Out Of The Blue" from Blue Moves, my "Top Gear" Surround collection will be complete.. lmfao.. :D

You all got me on a surround DTS CD kick. So I brought out a new and old. Just listened to The Police, Every Breath You Take, whatever, so/so, not that great, but good, now listening to Sting's Ten Summoner's Tales, much better, full bodied. Have more to listen to.
Super excited, I accidently stumbled into the local SF McIntosh store and upgrades are coming, swapping out my McIntosh 121 preamp for the new 122, Samsung 4KUltra 65" and time to get rid of that tired old Klipsch sub with a new tight Rel. Give me 6 weeks and we should have all, plus some new interconnects. And I walked in sober.

I'm listening to the "Relayer" Blu-Ray from Yes right now, and all I keep saying to myself is "If 'Relayer' can get released in surround (as anti-commercial as it is), then so can Tales from Topographic Oceans!" Just keep chanting "Hope Springs Eternal!" All together Now! ;)

I've never seen 1 episode of Seinfeld.... :yikes

It's awesome...one of the best comedies EVER...if you have the TBS HD channel you can watch the reruns...there is one on a 5pm today(your time)...you need to record the series and try to start at the beginning of the series....tonight is season 3 episode 5..it's just a character study...it's really about nothing...just everyday quirks of the characters...once you know the characters it makes it even better...

I know, I mean my buddy (who is a HUGE fan) cannot even believe I've never watched it. I don't know why I haven't....just one of the wonders of the world I guess. :)

Love it too Gene, play it quite a fair bit.. but.. have you got the 30th Anniversary DVD-V set with the 5.1 remix of the Fly Like An Eagle album too?
Some of the tracks are very well mixed on the newer 5.1 set I reckon (and despite/inspite of the Dolby Digital encoding, I prefer the sound they got by going back to the multitrack masters over the Quad in some instances imho.. try it thru Foobar maybe and see how they compare to you? :p )

Hola. I have the DVD Dolby Digital 5.1. It sounds amazing. Why every now and then, I use this particular album as a reminder DD 5.1 can.. Fly like a pelican. Imagine I could go all digital, as pictured above, but as in surround albums in general, can I instantly buy say... DSOTM as it sounds on Blu Ray -- hi Rez 5.1. Is there such a store or rig as easy as iTunes, or Spotify, or the like?

I also feel like I'm close to saying, "Get off my lawn!!!" But, I ain't there yet. I don't think! Cool posts.
