Yeah Gos, you got it. I tried. I do this as a hobby and we all try but to each of us tastes can be different. If you read on I make small comment on sonics. I just couldn't get behind the performance.
Listening now to The Best Of Bread, better, up a notch, still too weak for me, BUT the quad sonics are far better for Bread than Judy Collins. All this said, I have now had my own experience with these two discs and they will never make it on my lets listen again list, oh well.

4 1/2 on blu ray. Been through it twice, I've bought into liking about half of it so far, need a break and listen to it again later. Sonics are fantastic, as one would expect.

Listening now to T.Rex DVD-A, 5.1. God dang it, I just love DVD-A's. I just listened to three Audio Fidelity 4.0's Hybrid multichannel SACD's, my ears are top notch, and the lack of punch in the AF's hybrid sacd's compared to my DVD-A collection is sad. The DVD-A's are absolutely the king of surround or we can throw in pure SACD, but hybrids, give me a break, not as good, that is for sure. Please Warner, all the DVD-A's are out of print and hard to get, why, because we bought them all, get off your fat cat butts and start getting it on, again.

I think you'll find that the other half of the tracks that you don't like will get better as you play them more, whichever ones those are. For me the ones that took the most effort and listens to enjoy were the instrumentals, but especially "Year of the Plague" and "Sunday Rain Sets In".

Why on earth do you think that Hybrid SACDs sound worse than Single-Layer SACDs? That doesn't make one bit of sense to me at all.

T.Rex is just ugh though. Overly simple. Boring...

I have to agree to a point. My machine is tremendous, plus I am liquored up, so all is good, that said: The rears where lacking, and there was no movement. I like gimmicks in surround and I like full on discrete surround, in that respect T.Rex dissapointed me. But look at the context of my post, I am happy. You have a cool avatar also, what is it and how does it correlate with your handle (name)?

The "punch" has nothing to do with the format...it depends on the content....being a hybrid SACD has nothing to do with sound quality...not a thing..

Listening now to The Eagles, Hell Freezes Over, 5.1 DTS. Really good combination of mid range and bass. They did put the actual bass player, Timothy B. Schmit, a little too much in rear left however. Elliot Scheiner NEVER disappoints. In fact, this may be the best Live surround mix I have ever heard because you have the audience ambient rears, with an overlay of a discrete remix of musicians. Wait a minute, f'cn brilliant.

I understand your point and I will never disagree with you. That said, overall, and this is just me, I will always like DVD-A over Hybrid SACD, it's just my thing.

Thank you. The simple answer is its from a Rush concert rear projection vid.
A little deeper than that is I identify with the Angel of Death imagery from my experiences in armed combat.
It has little to nothing to do with my screen name, which I've had for many years, and is just a blend of a family name and a former fascination with Tolkien...

I knew the moment I saw your avatar that it was from RUSH's "Workin Them Angels", probably my favorite song on "Snakes & Arrows". :)

Rtb, strangely, I was in love with WtA before S&A was ever released. The lyrics developed throughout the book Travelling Music. I heard a tune in my head for what the song might be like. When I put on the album I was stunned because WtA in reality was a very close match to what I had imagined!

Spot on rtb, Year of the Plague took the longest to get any enjoyment from. Think my favourite song, at this time, is the bonus song Lazarus. Very catchy melody, wonderful acoustic, electric guitars and piano. I could envision a single here...

I don't have "Frantic" but I might add both "Boys & Girls" and "Avalon" to my snow weekend listening queue. Stay tuned!
(Wine is also probable.) ;)

Actually I'm bit jealous of you rt, having a legitimate snowed in weekend to just lounge and listen\watch to whatever you like.
Nice!

It's good, but I think I still prefer the original "Deadwing" version as recorded by Porcupine Tree. My favorite track is a toss-up between "My Book of Regrets" and "Happiness III". :)
