Since it's Phil Collins' birthday today, I'm currently playing the 5.1 Surround SACD of Genesis' "A Trick of the Tail". :)

(Though I wish I had some Phil Collins solo albums to play in surround right now…)

A little Yo-Yo Ma today....just finished The Goat Rodeo Sessions on BD-V 5.1...

Styx "Equinox" SpecWeb upmix from a 24x192 Vinyl Rip... the very prominent "inhalation" effect at the beginning of "Light Up" did a perfect 360 degree trip around my speakers... towards the end of the song I could hear Dennis DeYoung whispering "smoke pot" over my left shoulder! (Never noticed that before)

Jellyfish "Spilt Milk" Specweb Upmix... WOW! I bought this CD to make an upmix for a friend (so I heard it for the first time tonight, in surround) and this is incredible stuff... not only does it separate beautifully in surround, but the music is amazing on it's own; this album sounds like it was recorded with the craftmanship of "Sgt. Pepper's", but has echoes of bands throughout the classic rock genre such as The Beatles, Beach Boys, Supertramp, Steely Dan, (Pink Floyd?) and others, all interwoven into a psychedellic art-pop masterpiece... I can't believe I've never heard this before...
