It was an interesting project for this disc...the sad part is the sound was compromised...by design....they actually put microphones in the audience...the concept was for the listener to feel as though they were in the audience...not what you want for surround music...and the concert was shot on 16mm film and the master tapes were found in the barn of the drummer(and only American in the band)Bob Siebenberg and were in bad shape...I always consider this disc as a time machine...certainly not an audio treasure...but remarkably good for what they had to work with...you got to see this band at their peak...and to me it's priceless to have..

As I recall Roger wrote a blurb on (Amazon UK?) asking people not to buy this as it certainly did not have his blessing in the form it was presented....or something to that effect? I know I got an early copy thinking it might get pulled from shelves.

All this talk of Supertramp has me playing COTC on blu ray. Yes, I know it's stereo only, but that was accomplished despite my repeated pleadings for a MC mix. In that vein I will ask that you please don't arrange to have me sent to no asylum @:

I quite like it, I find it crankable. I don't play it often enough, think I'm still hurt that it hadn't been a MC mix ;)

Yeah, Supertramp is such an obvious candidate for surround mixing. Unfortunately with all the in-fighting that goes on among its members, it's doubtful that we'll ever see that get accomplished. I had heard mixed reviews about the first wave of Universal's stereo HFPAs so I've avoided them. There were several (Crime, Breakfast in America, Songs in the Key of Life, etc....) that I would certainly grab if they sound good and are not brickwalled.

Ive got about 20 HFPAs now, most are good. BIA has good dynamics but was bested by the SACD I've heard (don't own the SACD). Songs in the Key of Life I also found fine, but some songs are more dynamic than others with it being a compilation of sorts. For me, the biggest downside has been the lack of MC mixes and the crazy menus that seem to vary from disc to disc. Most have cost me around $20 CDN each which I think is quite fair. There are a few stinkers, but not many. Lennon's Imagine for example, don't expect much more than the cd gave us. I think I lean towards liking most of the HFPA purchases I've made, but that may put me in the minority ;)

Black Sabbath ST upmix. Shame this was done from remastered CD(Black box). The original Vertigo vinyl is superior, the sound on that LP is immense. I wish these would have been done from the LPS instead of the 8 disc set.

Sorry in advance-i can't show pics at this time, but tonight......it'll be:
