Perhaps my comment conveyed dislike when I didnt mean to. I enjoyed listening to Live Evil. Its not completely unrestrained free jazz.In surround these two Miles albums are different animals.

Not at all! I like Ralph's connection to virtual reality. For me, Live-Evil is a challenging and ultimately rewarding listen. I think of it as awesome, in all senses of the word: extremely impressive, daunting, inspiring great admiration, apprehension, fear! You know the Yeats poem, "The Second Coming"? The opening lines remind me of the band when they are grooving hard:

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned; . . .
